Didn't see a thread for this show so I thought I should make one since it's that good. I just got into it recently after my brother introduced me to the show via Netflix. I was immediatly hooked after the first episode and kept wanting to watch more and more. I'm not a fan of recent shows that have been coming out but this show is amazing and way better than I thought it would be. I'm all up to speed on all episodes except a few from season 3 which I plan on watching this weekend. I was hoping for other people to share their experiences and thoughts on this show and discuss events, characters, etc. If you do discuss major events, try to use spoilers for anyone who hasn't seen it yet. If you haven't seen it or don't know what it is, their official website is here (http://www.amctv.com/shows/the-walking-dead) and start watching!

Hmm? Zombies are the reason I started watching it! I was surprised how much blood and gore is in it too for a tv show. I gotta say, I'm surprised you're into this show sorei lol. Didn't think it was something you would like.

I like the series but my excitement sort of tapered off from the 2nd season. It was ok but not as great as season 1. I plan on continuing with season 3 as soon as I can rent it but I'm not uber excited.

Much more excited for the next seasons of Dexter and True Blood to be released on dvd/blu ray.

i am totally new to the scene (despite i do not intend to get an expert) so my enthusiasm is unbroken ;)
I can imagine people knowing zombie stuff better than I do have different criteriea :)

second season came with surprising twists for me. I needed a moment to adapt, but I did I(as I usually do once I like something)

me too, absolutely, i would have said "no go" before. Actually I forgot why I watched it in the first place.
Maybe because I like apocalyptic scenarios.

besides, i am always good for a surprise. :D

What!? I actually thought season 2 was better than the first, but you're not as nearly into it as I am since my interest never tapered off. I think it gets better as it goes on.

Most of season 2 was the group stuck in one place bickering about who was the leader. I really got sick of the characters.

lol. I've been enjoying the TV series since the beginning. Although the comic's are by far greater (obviously) the show seems to be going in the right direction. The season 3 finale wasn't the greatest but it's gonna go in a all new direction. Which is epic!

there is a walking dead novel too, called something like rise of the governor, did not read that one either, not yet. ;)

I don't know if I would read the governor one since I don't really like him.

It might explain how his daughter turned into a walker, and how his wife died, and maybe all those heads in the tanks too though...

So maybe I might look into it too.

i know from other tv series, sometimes the novels are a bit different, when it comes to the persons involved as well as story. (true blood, game of thrones)
still, i will read it.
it is just, there are so many star trek novels begging to be read :D

Bumping cause I just got done watching the first episode of season 4. I would have watched it last night, but I work 2nd shift, so I just got done watching the one that aired at 2:00a.m. CST. I missed the first 5 minutes, but it looks like a bunch of new people are in the group now. Can't wait until next week's episode cause this show always makes me anxious to find out what happens next!

OMG last Sunday's episode was so far the worst of season 4. For those who haven't seen it, suggest you skip it. Total waste of time. Made me have a love/hate relationship now with the show because it seems as if either every episode is the same - kill walkers, get supplies, cure sickness, etc or if it is different from the norms, you get a weak episode like last Sunday.

well, this upcoming mid-season finale episode seems to finally show the siege to the prison with the tank and everything.

this brings pivotal and critical questions, will the gov cut off ricks hand? will judy die? will gov die for killing judy? will hershel die? or will nothing happen and the entire season will still be set in the prison? i havent read the post prison part - pre new settlement part in a long while and dont exactly remember what happened there, aside from rick going insane with the telephone (and not just one episode and a half)

I haven't read the comics. So there's that.

I haven't watched webisodes. They seem to last a lot longer than any actual episode from the show.

It's kind of okay where it's heading.
It has a very strong atmosphere the likes of Season 8 for Dexter: don't really care what happens.
It's not great as it was in the first season. I think it's lost a lot of its charm and panache.

The last two episodes are great if you're lonely, bored and want to have a comedian-actor-turned-serious type of midlife crisis feel and just want to veg out on the couch.
The last two episodes were really... Deep. Like Keanu Reeves deep ~Woah~

I just watch because this far into it already.
It's a decent story. But no sympathy if anyone comes near to death or dies. Or doesn't die.

And I absolutely don't care if Daryl dies. I won't stop watching simply because an internet sensation died.
He's okay. But his light burned the brightest in season 3. There's no more wick left. Just black soot and dissipating smoke.

Carl can get bit. The end.

Rick is okay. Him and One-Eyed Willy can do a musical together and totally steal the show.

"That's how they do it on Broadway (http://youtu.be/jR4lLJu_-wE?t=236)~"

After watching that, I can't actually take TWD seriously anymore. The show is ruined for me.
The acting and voice work is a million times better than the show now.

And I'm still waiting for Game of Thrones.

After December 1, the show will be on hiatus till February. Glad I'll ge ta break from zombies, prison, and Carl.

I like Daryl. I think he's one of the best characters on the show. His arching skills are top notch. Maybe rivaled only by Green Arrow, but that's a whole other world. Just my opinion. When Rick's too insane to join fights and that has been seen before, Daryl can step up even more. That ninja sword woman (I keep forgetting her name!) is a skilled sword-wielding fighter/warrior. I like her and glad they kept her around as long as they have. When I saw her the first time, didn't think she'd last this far.

Glenn's been there since the first episode. In fact if I remember right, he saved Rick from a massive group of walkers in episode 1 of the first season via radio contact or whatever. If that's true, then Glenn deserves to live. Judy's sweet and is basically taking up the role of Rick's baby's mother. Hershel's been through a lot, but still has a never give up attitude and is good at taking care of and saving lives. That makes hims valuable enough to live. Maggie has come into her own lately. She's not the best when it comes to taking care of zombies. But in terms of that, I think her turning point came when she got into the prison and just in time, shot a walker thus saving her father.

Of all the characters, it is Carl who seriously needs to go.

a little bit of action, and sometime, no zombie at all ! ! Not realistic to me. i left it in the middle of the second season,

Enjoyed the mid-season finale. Things really picked up toward the end, but the whole episode was easy to get through. Sucks how the little girl who the Gov treated like a daughter got bit. But Herschel had to die after all he went through and all his help. Man that really sucks. I'll miss him. He was a valuable asset to Rick and the whole gang.

That should be spoiled lest someone walks in just to spout their blind love and waiting for the season to end before watching it all back-to-back.

Herschel needed to die.

Without his death, Rick and everyone would still be at a stalemate with the Guv'.
It was the chess piece that turned the whole board around.

I didn't watch the 2nd and 3rd seasons as the way the first season ended left me wanting. After catching up a bit I decided to risk another glimpse into the series. So far I have found myself uncontrollably hooked. Am now eagerly awaiting the second half of the season.

Not entirely. It started off good. I don't remember which episode it was, but that store scene was awesome. The scene ended with them on the roof where one guy tried to save his bottle of whiskey or vodka or whatever it was. The mid season finale was awesome and made up for the boringness so to speak that took place during the season. Hope when it returns, it is as good as the mid season finale. I wish Hershel survived though. Sucks he dies in front of his daughters who had to watch helplessly as they couldn't really do anything about it from where they were.

@Sparktank:
"That should be spoiled lest someone walks in just to spout their blind love and waiting for the season to end before watching it all back-to-back."

I have just as much right as anyone else to post when I want and not post when I don't want to. I knew in advance the show would go on hiatus before the season ended so I waited till the mid season finale was over to post my thoughts. It was my favorite episode (so far) of the season.

"Herschel needed to die.

It's an opinion that I disagree with. Sure someone needed to die. But it didn't have to be Hershel. Michonne could have died. He wasn't around as long as Hershel, but she came through. She helped the group out and became an asset in her own way. She grew on them so her dying would have worked. Maybe not as effectively as Hershel's death, but it would have worked nevertheless. Hershel's been there since Season 1, helped out a lot, kept the group level headed when needed....he didn't deserve to die. It's just my opinion. Honestly, the Gov could have died without anyone from Rck's group dying had they just taken the fight to him.

People who haven't seen the latest episode shouldn't be reading threads like these. If I haven't seen something everyone else has, I know without doubt that someone is blabbing about it online so I actively avoid these threads.

Don't blame the people spoiling it, spoilers naturally attract people who are looking to be spoiled.

I think the series has lost his charm ever since Frank Darabont left the show, the pacing is slow and nothing really happens save for some episodes, the series isn't bad but used to be better and i simply got tired of watching it all.

I read the comics and i like how the things are going there, i thought that the series could do an even better job , started out great, then Frank Left and now we got this...

About Darryl, he is a great character, and if i am right the only survivor created specially for the series from the original group that's still alive, there are talks about putting de Dixon brothers in the comics and i think that would be quite nice.

I really used to love this show, but its gets so drawn out, too much "will they or wont they" BS. They direct what should have been a 1.5 episode arc into an entire season. Someone needs to slap the writers around, they're trying way too hard to milk next to no action at all.

In my opinion, the first and second season were thoughtful and realistic as to the topics presented. In the first season you can see the fear, panic and attempt to survive. The second season is great in terms of psychological analysis of the social group and the individual psychology of life being in danger.
