Hi!

Here's the complete soundtracks for the Gothic Trilogy (yes, there were no Gothic games after Gothic 3. At least - that's what I choose to believe).

Please leave a "Thank you" comment if you download this as it'll push the thread to the first page of this section and more people will see it :)

These are gamerips, not the official releases. (Gothic 3 is now partial official, partial gamerip)

Wow, thanks a lot for these!! May I ask, how did you extract the soundtracks from Gothic 1 & 2? afaik they have kinda special format..

skeletonmage

@Kyth: Just use JDownloader for downloading, it's a great download manager for all kinds of hosters (and should be very helpful for downloading in a forum with all kinds of different hosters being linked). Apart from that, the decryption key is also in the URL, it's built together a little like this:

https://mega.co.nz/#!FILEID!DECRYPTIONKEY

So, for this link (https://mega.co.nz/#!U0phhDQb!WmuDWTAxlf-SbwK84cIE3FG5fixcWi4E_GuzNqhZQPA), the File-ID would be "U0phhDQb" and the decryption key "WmuDWTAxlf-SbwK84cIE3FG5fixcWi4E_GuzNqhZQPA".

@itsadinosaur: I actually did not rip G1 and G2, I used a rip I found some time ago and added, renamed, moved some tracks.

The format in the files is a little like MIDI, information about what to play when, at what loudness and velocity, and what instruments to use - the samples for the instruments are stored somewhere in the files too. I think the best way to rip the soundtrack yourself would be to use something like Gothic Music Player and record the Stereo Output from your soundcard, with Audacity or a similar program. The only music file that's actually in the game as a .wav is the In Extremo Easter Egg in G1, and the G2A menu theme. Hope I could help, if you have any more questions, just ask away!

Uh ... the G1 and G2 soundtracks are hard enough to get recorded as it is.

G3 is ogg source, and Risen's xsnd is just a custom header for mp3 streams, I think. So you're SOL for flac on these ones. Get the official (uncomplete) releases for lossless sound.

@DoDoRay9000

That's why I chose MEGA - no file deletion after inactivity, never had a file deletion yet :)

Aw, what rotten luck. The three Gothics are either unavailable or giving temporary errors. I'd be much obliged if you'd be so kind as to look into it, skeletonmage.

The dropcanvas links are lonk dead, yeah. MEGA should still be online, though.

For some reason g1 and g2 are outdated links, but they're still online on my MEGA. No idea when I changed those. They're updated now, and hopefully work.

I also noticed today (been fiddling around with the game and it's soundtrack again, mod-wise this time) that Gothic 3 is missing two tracks that are on the official OST (from the intro video), so I should probably include those too.

No problemo :)

Working on an update for Gothic 3 btw, using the CD versions where possible and only using the game oggs for whatever's not on the CD.

It does have its drawbacks ... I've gotten so used to the game mixes (the CD is mixed quite differently) that the CD mixes sound a bit off (not that they're bad, they're just different), but the quality is so much better at times. Plus it's less dynamically compressed.

There'll be a flac of that, btw, even if it's part lossless part lossy, but in a different thread.

Did the downloads work for you in the end, btw? If it really doesn't work I can put them on zippyshare or so.

The main post is updated with the new version, now btw! :) It's VBR this time.

And it just got even better! Thanks, friend, and the downloads did work via JDownloader, so cheers.

And I finally got around to posting the FLAC version of Gothic 3:

Thread 199681

Has a newer version of "Welcome To Varant", which is now also updated in this version.
