Enjoy ^_^.

Thanks for the credit and the music! A lot of money and effort went into your upload and I hugely appreciate it. :D I have been wondering how the music is as a whole since I watched only the first two episodes.
About the translation: Words like "Eramoreseramoru" and "Fategadorema" are just Romanized readings of the original Katakana titles since I had no clue what they mean (some kind of Nordic language?) EDIT: The booklet states that these indeed are made-up gibberish! :D Also, Hama Takeshi stated on his Twitter that Track 19 in the first soundtrack should be "pi" not "Opid"; the word is Icelandic.

I think "Fatehgadrem" and "Austenoust" work. I got nothing for "Eramoreseramoru" though.

So is there a reason the orchestral version of Eramoreseramoru without the choir from episode 9 is not on the OST?

First version (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLv8HY94C-I#t=12m55s) Second version (www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLv8HY94C-I#t=16m26s)

Oh, and I didn't notice this at first but Eat Mash Haik is an anagram of Takeshi Hama. He provided vocals for track 11 on OST2 under this name and wrote some lyrics as well.

So is there a reason the orchestral version of Eramoreseramoru without the choir from episode 9 is not on the OST?
I'd sort of like to know too. After listening to this soundtrack Eramoreseramoru is easily my favorite track.

We could ask him on Twitter. He's been talking about the soundtrack and he occasionally responds to English questions too. Or someone who knows Japanese could ask: @hamatakeshi (https://twitter.com/hamatakeshi)

If any of you would really like to know and have a Twitter, ask him this directly: Or, you could just ask him in English. I don't have a Twitter, so...

Typical. The only vaguely decent piece in the entire series and they leave it off the album. Oh, well...

I tried sending Akashi-san's message earlier but it said it was too long. I don't use Twitter so I don't know if there's a special way to send messages like this.

Twitter messages have to be under 128 characters... Akashi's message is incredibly friendly but a little too wordy for Twitter. ;)

I had no idea about the character limit as I have never used Twitter or know much about it. It's probably the YouTube link that made it too long - use this instead (124 charactesr according to Word):
はまさん、まおゆうのサントラは楽しんで聞いております!で、急に質問ですみませんが、第9話 に挿入された"エラモレセラモル"の合唱抜きのヴァージョンはどういう理由でアルバムに収録されていませんか?その曲が大好きだったので、ち ょっと期待していました(笑)

This is a very decent soundtrack, thank you!

By the way, does anybody know what is the complete version of the track 11(ヴァイカローナ) in Yu ban.
According to the booklet it is just a prelude...

Here's his reply: 楽しんでいただけて幸いです!基本的に、ステムと言って、抜いたバージョンは収録していません。もしステム を完璧に含めると、似た曲が100曲近くなってしまいます。そういうご要望があるとは思っていませんでした ので、大変貴重なご意見をありがとうございます!

So far my answer is yes. Just grabbed them from Nipponsei.

This is not a traditional symphonic score. At times it has an ethnic/medieval quality that reminds me of Record of Lodoss War, at times it has a small ensemble with some real instruments, and at others some interesting vocals. It isn't the best score out there but a solid addition and one I might return to a few times.

m4a is just a container... What's the codec inside? m4a can't hold FLAC so if it's lossless, it has to be Apple's ALAC I guess.

Not that I really care anyway...

LeatherHead333
07-23-2013, 08:30 PM
Yeah it's ALAC.

Akashi San
07-24-2013, 01:08 AM
LeatherHead, with all due respect, I do not understand why you keep advertising ALAC as FLAC. They are both lossless but as tangotreats already pointed out in the orchestral thread, ALAC is not FLAC. Just to name two differences on top of my head, they have different compression level (albeit slight) and many devices support one but not the other (my phone supports FLAC but not ALAC).

LeatherHead333
07-24-2013, 12:56 PM
Well not everyone knows exactly what ALAC is. Nor do they know what loseless means. Sure you could look such terms up but most people are to lazy to do that for whatever reason (at least on animeost they are not so much here). And i remember when i started uploading my CDs people complained numerous times that i wasn't uploading FLAC. Since I never could figure out EA i just go with ALAC. Overall it's more convenient than FLAC for most people since folks these days usually have SOME kind of ipod related device (iphone, itouch, ipod nano, classic etc.). I just call it FLAC to get certain whiners off my back and while it's not technically FLAC it still is loseless which for most people is all they really care about.

We haven't had any complaints with it on animeost so I've just kept doing it this way here as well (i usually post my stuff there first before posting it here).

Finally today I heard both cds. At first I was not really liking it and it sounded so superficial in the orchestra. It seemed synthetic to me. Kinda a lot like my issue with Hiromi Mizutani sounding noisy with is "supposed" orchestra.
I saw the series, and the soundtrack was delivering a good vibe and interesting enough for it. The anime is also very interesting in its concept and I did find it a wonder. Of course, God get Rid of Japanese and Boobs bouncing was not here, but at least there was not much of jokes there. So I do recommend this anime. Rare of me to say this.

The music, just today HIT me badly. Arai Akino, a goddess to me since my childhood, was well blend in this soundtrack due to her new age style. Not only that, the I heard the 2 cds in a row. Being Mao OST in first and Yu OST next. In some way, Mao OST gives you a build up for the Yu OST, and then... in the Yu OST, track 23 "エラモレセラモル" ends your listening journey beautifully. The vocal tracks are all amazing. All of this soundtrack made me go back to all old Yoko Kanno similar soundtracks, back in the 90ts.
LeatherHead333, I thank you much more and again for this share. :) I praise you for this thing ;)

I also feel many tracks are "Kanno like".

This soundtrack is a very nice (and bold) blend of "modern" music and game music, which is quite rare in my opinion...

Orie
10-09-2013, 01:23 PM
That's because some of the musicians in this soundtrack worked with Kanno before. The reason you might feel some similarities. Plus... Arai Akino. :D
