It's been a while since Two Steps From Hell graced my ears. This is a good place to begin again.

I haven't listened to this (yet). But you lucked out on their recent albums.
They've gone... :erm: Crap, lately. Too "epic" and "choir". It's like they moved to a cathedral or something and took up some falsehood religion.

You're right, but they improve their work to the best (for me) this one is perfect.

Sorry, I haven't had the chance to check it out myself.

Is anyone else able to confirm any issues, or whether it sounds perfect? Lets hope for the latter! :-)

on the PC, via Foobar, no.
Don't know about portable MP3 player (yet).

But it might be your software not allowing enough buffer time for playback.
These tracks have very little silence in the beginning for "safe" listening with players that have poor playback.

some software requires a minimum of .5 seconds of silence to playback and buffer enough to get it playing.

try foobar as a media player and increase the buffer length in the settings.
most other software should have buffer options.

portable...you would have to add a second of silence to get them to playback properly.
they don't have options or settings to allow proper start of a quick-playing track.

Just finished listening to this on my iPhone and had no playback troubles at all.

Gotta agree with Sparktank though... their last couple of albums (this included) are definitely inferior to their back catalogue. Its almost like they have run out of melodies. :(

i'd like to clear this, you are wrong Two Steps From Hell is made up of teams of composers, Solaris is handled by composer Alex Peffer (ASCAP) who make most of their demo albums (low key releases) while their main albums are done by composers Thomas Bergersen and Nick Phoenix (both of them make most of the established cues that TSFH is known for, we know and hear from trailers). so Bergersen and Phoenix are the core composers of TSFH and Peffer does some of the not so/generic stuff.

Fair enough... I indeed thought that this was the work of Bergersen and Phoenix, and glad to know otherwise. No cause for deletion, though! ;-)

What does "low key releases" and "not so/generic stuff" means? I probably will understand if I listen to this but at the moment I'm clueless. Didn't know Pfeffer worked for this company, it seems he made a carreer. Thanks for the nice infos.

I didn't liked their last releases. I had some hope for Bergersen, it seemed he was a growing next genius. But what they do today is rarely interesting composing-wise and just to get the ears bleed. I guess when they're long enough on that path they'll addicted/related to this and won't find the way back. Well, it's just my humble opinion.
