Man, so far this OST is worse than the last one in pretty much every way. D:

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. While there were some definite nice changes in the tracks of the remixes, most of them still were missing some of the heart of the original. I think it's just the remixing was a little on the weaker side because I like the new sound direction in general. Kinda like XX, Overture, and BlazBlue had some type of baby. I can hear a bit of everything in there. Or at least some combination like that. Bullet's theme was fantastic, though, which is why I'd prefer Mr. Ishiwatari bring new content instead of updating old.

Also, Bullet's theme is somewhat reminiscent of Slayer's theme. Which is also why I probably enjoy it so much since Slayer's theme is my favorite from XX. Chipp's comes in a very very close second, though.

The new songs fit better in context... something people tend to forget about when it comes to game music: It's made to go along with a game first and foremost, not listened by itself. The latter is a bonus.

Any self respecting composer should design their music to be listened to. If I were doing so for a game I'd want the players to want to pop my stuff in and play it aside from the game.

Frank Klepacki is a prime example. He knows fans love his stuff, and while he does have a job to do, he crafts his music in a way that people will want to pop it in and listen to it outside of the game.

I do agree that these songs sound ok in the game, but they were previously fine listening on a stereo. These tracks could have been adjusted to keep the heart of the original, retaining their stereo worthiness, and still fit the "context".

To give an example, Tager's remix theme is highly bland and lifeless compared to the original.

Yeah I am a die hard GG and BB music fan and don't like what they did with the music in this release! Disappointing when compared to all previous music used in Blazblue.

Uhm, just gotta let you know, it wasn't Ishiwatari that made the remixes, it was some dude from a japanese band, whose name escapes me right now. Ishiwatari did nothing but the new themes in the game.
