Here is a question though. Did Brad score the music in 4/5/6 channels to begin with? From what I recall when I went to see the film at the cinema in 1991, I didn't catch any multichannel indicators from the music. And before anyone suggests it may have been a crap cinema theatre, let me assure you it was state-of-the-art.

I found T2, and also Star Trek 6, to have had the best sound of all time. No other films have impressed me as they have. I salute the sound guys responsible.

I would imagine Fiedel originally created this in stereo. It was then probably left for other sound engineers to factor it into surround, either for the movie or in this case the OST album.

I think you're right. That would be my guess.

I don't know about proper, but this is one way I find straight forward. I find "ac3filter" to be useful for managing surround. Download it here AC3Filter (http://www.ac3filter.net/)

To play files I use "Media Player Classic" although I think almost any other player will do. What happens is ac3filter takes over when surround material is being played - you'll get an icon in the taskbar - click on that during playback to make changes to the settings.
