What do you guys think of this new act that may pass? What's your thoughts? I'm kind of scared to share/download things. Does this only pertain to torrents? Or direct downloads, too?

Why do I find this laughable? Doing something which could be defined "wrong", yet, scared of getting caught. Don't be a bad guy and you have nothing to fear, otherwise... well... be an adult and accept the possible consequences of your actions.

And of course, this is the wrong forum for the post. It belongs in General Discussion, where the 13 billion other threads about this live.

this is more of a warnings thing, from what i read on it, there is not much to worry, as at most you get a warning a couple times. after 6 "strikes" then they dont do anything.. so not very effective i think.

It pertains, like any other type of bill, to any copyright infringement. Downloading anything here, for example. Sharing anything here. Sharing e-books, movie, music..any copyrighted material is illegal. If partaking scares you, then do not do it. Every post in this forum is a copyright breech. Every link is illegal. It is all pirating. ?? Where is the confusion in that?

You can petition to stop any bill. But why act surprised any time a new one is introduced? The labels will NEVER stop combating piracy. It is never gonna be "ok" by them. IF you are concerned, or have moral objections, then do not do it.

I just think it's stupid, they get enough money as it is. And some things that are shared, you cannot buy.

From what I've read, it "went live" today, and so far it only applies to Bittorrents.

I'd been downloading quite a few Oscar movies lately via torrent, and today I just subscribed to a VPN, but I'm also thinking of going back to not using torrents very often, like I used to.

As of now it applies solely to Bit Torrents.

Also CAS is not a government program, your ISP will not even give up your personal information unless they have received a court order for such.

In addition it only applies to the United States and from what I have noticed during short time here most of you peeps are elsewhere doing what you do so well.
