Yeah...it sucks.

I have the mp3s as well, and they suck.

Not that the fact that they're mp3s is what sucks, it's the versions of the theme. They're terrible.

The awkward edit of the extended Voyager theme is what it is, and of course is also on that 30th Anniversary album but those two synthesized / pop versions....right down there with the pop version of 'The Search For Spock'. Terrible. Just terrible.

That title theme was the best part of the entire series. The original recording is easily the most gorgeous performance of it, something re-recordings (even those by Jerry Goldsmith with other orchestras) have completely failed to capture and those Joel Goldsmith synth versions crapped on.

A while back, I had decided that the cover to this particular release seemed a little to low-res for my tastes. I turned to deviantart and asked one of their members if he could recreate the background image. Then I slapped all the text information over it. Not sure if anyone really wants these but I thought I should share anyway.

^^ very nice. The original cover was just the average low-res screenshot from the opening credits rather than a nice promotional image.

I have produced some covers for the Voyager tracks that were included on the two 30th Anniversary albums from Cresendo. I have additionally added the Voyager title, extended title and the end credit music as the album would only have been 24 minutes long. I now runs at approximatley 30 minutes.

On this occasion I have included the actual mp3 tracks as well. The main reason for this was so the files are correctly numbered. They are at encoded at 320kbs and the total size for the RAR is approx 66mb.

If anyone has a high res scan of the CD from the retail release of CARETAKER, I could create a CD label to match.

Now, the strange this is that these turned out to be WAV files but I had saved a note that the person I got them off had a very irritating habit of transcoding MP3s (despite being constantly told not to.) Hence, I'm pretty sure that the real quality is only 320, not lossless. I'm not sure what software you could use to check them out but let me know what you find.

Lastly, JHFan is correct: I have these only because I'm a completist but these synthed versions are bloody awful...
