So I have vacation days to burn mid year or I can hold out till end of the year. I was hoping to go to San Diego Comic Con 2013 but tickets sold out in minutes :(

Comic Con has the celebrities, professionalism, fans, and casual appeal that I think I would have enjoyed. Either I can wait it out and see if ticket resale comes up or go ahead and book myself for another convention this year.

I thought about Anime Expo but I don't know if it is right for me. I like anime and consider myself a casual fan. I don't cosplay or claim myself as an otaku. Anime Expo does seem fun with all the fan support but it lacks everything else that I wanted from Comic Con. I have never been to one, but that was from what I have read. If I am wrong to think that, let me know.

I like video games, comics, anime, movies and I know there are a lot of conventions or expos dedicated to those categories. I am going to PAX East next month so I need other conventions to keep me occupied for the rest of the year.

If your on the west coast

Norwescon (http://www.norwescon.org/)
http://orycon.org/
Westercon 66: The 2013 West Coast Science Fantasy Conference | July 4-7, 2013 * Hilton Arden West Hotel, Sacramento, CA (http://www.westercon66.org/)
Emerald City Comicon - The Largest Comic and Pop Expo in the Northwest (http://www.emeraldcitycomicon.com/)

and my favorite

Sakura-Con (http://www.sakuracon.org/)

I got dragged to it by my daughter a few years ago. I really enjoyed it alot.
Its not just anime in content. I got to meet a guy starting up his own self publishing site.
Got to meet some really cool voice actors as well as SmileDK a few years ago.
Was really worth it, but its really big. We're talking like 3,000+ people.

If you can, try to make it to Otakon. It never sells out and its one of the biggest cons in the east coast. Its also less expensive.

I have heard a lot about Sakura Con. Unfortunately it will conflict with Pax next month. I will have to shelf Sakura for next year then.
