Review by Heather Phares ~ Allmusic

The original soundtrack to Hugh Hudson's I Dreamed of Africa features a majestic score written by famed composer Maurice Jarre. His compositions blend traditional orchestral arrangements with indigenous African elements, reflecting the film's true story of an Italian woman who moved to Kenya with her family and became an activist for protecting the region's elephants, rhinoceroses, and other wildlife. The soundtrack also pays respect to Africa's own vibrant music, including Ayub Ogada's "Ondiek" and "Obiero" and Geoffrey Oryema's "Kel Kweyo." A rich and compelling collection of film and world music.

Dreamed is fine.
Les Miserables: "I Dreamed a Dream"
Also differences seem to be shown on how old the word is and who uses it (USA vs. UK)

When you have the oportunity, watch the Film, it's based on a True Story, the Life of Kuki Gallmann, an Italian writer, in Africa.

The Performance by Basinger as Kuki, is quite impressive, for me her best film.

And the score by Jarre, it's not "Lawrence", but it has its moments.

Wouldn't the correct term be dreamt?

According to Dreamed vs. dreamt - Grammarist (http://grammarist.com/usage/dreamed-dreamt/) :

There is no difference between dreamed and dreamt. Both are considered correct, and both function as the past tense and past participle of the verb dream. Dreamed is preferred in all main varieties of English, but dreamt is especially common in British English; while American writers use dreamt about a tenth as often as dreamed, British writers use dreamt about a third of the time.

Dreamt is more often used in the figurative senses of the wordespecially in the phrase dreamt upwhile dreamed is more likely to denote the mental activity that occurs during sleep. But this is by no means a rule, and both words are used both ways.
