A color-blind psychiatrist Bill Capa is stalked by an unknown killer after taking over his murdered friend's therapy group, all of whom have a connection to a mysterious young woman that Capa begins having intense sexual encounters with.



Color of Night won the Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Picture, but on the other hand, Maxim magazine also praised Color of Night for having the best sex scenes in film history.
Being a fan of Dominic Frontieri's Outer Limits music, I thought a complete soundtrack for this film should have been released to showcase his musical talents.

The original DVD release I have had a 5.1 audio track which turned out to be just an upmix with distorted sound. The BluRay version (which is the source for this soundtrack) contained slightly better 2 channel audio. Unfortunately the original master tape must have had poor miking or dirty tape heads, since typical Left minus Right tricks produced dialogue floating in and out of the music tracks.

I did however manage to isolate the soundtrack using some sophisticated software, whereas most of the original music was hidden under the dialogue and effects.
I wish I could have done justice to Frontieri's work but due to the nature of the software,
some artifacts (sounding like squabling) were introduced into the music tracks.
In addition, a few of the tracks still have FX (mostly car chase noises) which couldn't be helped.

Dominic Frontieri's underlying score is haunting, utilizing soft violins on tracks such as "Love Theme", "Photograph" "Color Blind" and screaching violins, reminscent of "Psycho" in "My Name Is Rose, Finale".
For fans of the instrumental track "The Color Of Night" (which was never released), you won't be disappointed.
I've included four versions; a version played in the background on folk guitar, Brian McKnight's Jazz interpretation, the Instrumental Alt. Guitar Take (with an extended guitar solo) and the complete Love Scene Instrumental (as played in the movie).

Rounding it out is Lauren Christy's Grammy nominated vocal "The Color of Night".
So for those hoping for a complete soundtrack, this should at least entertain.
