Hi. Now, if this goes elsewhere please move me. I figured since it's technically a discussion about film music rather than a request for film music, it belonged here. It's claimed to be by james horner, anyone know the origin of this track? Would like to hear the whole score it belongs to lol

1.) This does not sound like James Horner

2.) Where did you get it?

3.) How long have you had it?

I don't know what it is but I do know it's most certainly not a James Horner piece of music regardless of his name in the tag. :)

I remember you asking about this track elsewhere.

Somewhere on the web, around 2009 ish, maybe early 2010.

This is the track as I exactly got it. No edits or mods what so ever. If it was done, it was before I obtained this track.

I never said it was absolutely horner, only that the track itself claims to be by him :P

This track claims to be by him? Lol did the track itself tell you this? I kid, lol

I've only seen parts of the film, but I kind of get a Devil's Advocate vibe from it. James Newton Howard

Maybe Christopher Young. Definitely a horror piece...

I always thought Young had a similarity in orchestration to Horner, just tougher.

No one thinks it could be Giacchino or Danny Elfman? I'm more inclined to say Giacchino... it reminds me of the beat to "Roar" plus it has low string/brass/winds 'rolls' in it that Giacchino kinda acquired back when he use to do a lot of William's 'Jurassic Park' game scores

and the brief choir even seems like it to me

Giacchino sounds about right. Elfman...I doubt it. His style doesn't match this at all (to me).

at first I thought Elfman...but as it played it seemed more and more Giacchino to me too yea

I would say David Arnold (second part kinda sounds like Stargate), not Giacchino, maybe Elfman

Giving it a listen as I type and it almost seems like a mix of many different types. Is it possible it's not a single film/score track but an advertising mix of some sort for something like trailer music?

maybe elfman, the choirs, maybe giaccinno, the pizzicati in bass mode like in "lost", maybe i don't know because most of the composers are writing the same music nowadays and are difficult to distinct

Sounds like Giacchinno to me. Although it sounds like something you would hear in one of the newer Batman movies. Not sure who did those scores.

i would say elfman. i think it's a little too subdued to be Giachino

There's a kind of a theme from 2:09 on: It reminds me of JP: The Lost World.

If you loaded it to Youtube, you'd get far more responses. Heck, if they have it copyrighted, they'll tell you what it is.

Thanks for reminding me of that. I'll give it a go to see if it can be identified there.

Sounds almost note-for-note the theme from Graeme Revell's "The Saint", but it's not (plus that film is Paramount); maybe it's a Revell score.

It's a pretty good piece, whatever it is. If we ever find out, I think I'd like to get ahold of the whole score, myself!

Here it is: mystery music - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFCQ_A0iKfg)

The music "Matched third party content" by Sony Pictures but that's all it said.

Question: The "Matched third Party content" by the video under your videos list -- did you click on it? I just found this out myself a few days ago: if you click on it, it takes you to a seperate page telling you what the video may contain that's third party.

Thanks to YT's copyright system, I was able to identify a very obscure piece of music that otherwise I just would not have been able to find.
