I aksed this a while ago, but nobody was able to give a definitive answer.

If you read the credits to Final Fantasy VII in the beginning, it'll say who wrote the story, but it says "Based on the story by..." and I don't remember the name.

FF7 is an adaptation of another story it seems. What was that other story? Does anybody know?

One of the authors is Hironobu Sakaguchi. Who also wrote the plot for Final Fantasy: The Spirits within if this site is to be believed:

http://www.geocities.com/fvispo/01/finalfan.htm

He's President of Square USA now too. I think.

The other author is Tetsuya Nomura, who is accredited for the following list of games:

So I now know who to blame for the evil that is Kingdom Hearts.

So basically, uh, the company have two professional script writers who do the work for them. By the looks of things.

Yeah...I notice 2 people did the script, but what was their source based on?

That's twice I've quoted you Anna, but it's twice you've hit my exact thoughts on the head. :)

Hell, if you want a detailed, involved storyline, you involve two creative people to iron out everything.

Hence this.

As far as I know there is no novel, not even in Japan. I've never heard about anything like that. :)

Since I have no life, I found out the two authors names that FF7 is based on. Tetsyu Nomura, he is also the character designer, and battle visual director.Hironobu Sakaguchi is the other one.

There's been some discussion about the idea of novelizations in the General FF section. Most people seem to think it would be a good idea. Currently, the only novel I know of is the novelization of "The Spirits Within."

That's what Bahamut_ZERO posted a few posts above, yes.
Anyway, I hguess we all know those two anyway, Nomura did the chaarcter design for some Final Fantasy games and Sakaguchi is the producer of those games... So there's no big surprise. :(

I agree that novels for the FF series would be a fantastic idea. There'd be so much to fill them with beacause of the elaborate storylines of the games. Maybe if enough people signed their names and wrote to Square it could becaome a reality? I know I'd sign.

If the idea takes off, they might put your name in the credits, Agent, for promoting it.
