Here is the Isolated Score track from Halo 4: Foward Unto Dawn bluray. I have cut the whole isolated score into tracks to match the youtube rip found in the thread here - Thread 124417
As best I can tell, this is the full score, in the highest quality possible, except for an actual lossless session rip. It should be aware that I think the original isolated score track is lossy, but I have insufficient experience to read spectrum scans to verify that (maybe one of you can do that).

But there are differences.
The youtube rip is mp3 128kbs, or whatever you can get from the actual youtube. My rip is the full 5:1 surround sound mix, encoded into flac to preserve quality.
Some of the youtube tracks are actually several cues put together with 5-10 seconds of silence between them. I have split them here into part 1, 2, etc.
There were 7-8 cues (mostly short 30-45 second) that were not in the youtube rip, but are present here.

Process:
I extracted the ac3 stream from the bluray (using dvdfab "same as source" option) and opened it in audacity. Then I cut the tracks (there is between .25 and .5 second of fade out and in applied to track 35 and 36, as they fade into each other, otherwise no editing was done other than to cut the ac3). After, I exported the ac3 clip as 5:1 flac, with no changes to channel assignment. The sample rate is 48000 (as source).

Does a receiver power your speakers? If it does, I am pretty sure you can just connect the PS3 to your receiver with a HDMI cable and select HDMI as the sound output on your PS3.

Well yeah, but I'm more worried about getting the PS3 to play back the audio in the first place. I do surround sound 5.1 just fine through optical.

Yeah, I use that. I'll have to see if the PS3 can properly recognize the 5.1 audio here and keep it in tact when playing it. I'll post my results once I have tried it that way.

EDIT: I tested out with these files over PS3 Media Server and was told that the FLAC files were not supported. I can play them on my PC no problem but not in 5.1 (I don't think my DAC supports 5.1 output).

I should note, this whole thing is largely academic for me because I doubt I will listen to this a lot, just not my style. But it would be nice to be able to help others with the same type of files to take full advantage of the 5.1 audio.

i would think you need to stream it some way, due to i think cds being only stereo. but i do not have a ps3, so cant say for sure :(

I'm afraid I don't know much about the ps3. You could always convert to 5:1 wav to preserve the surround sound, with possibly better compatibility. The files will probably be ~2.5gb, so I would probably convert (keep the flac), play, and then delete the wav after you are finished.

This score could use someone skilled in audio editing, like SonicAdventure and his Deluxe Editions. The side and rear tracks are rather quiet, and in all I think he could immensely improve it (as well as coming up with fantastic covers).
