This is one of the best video games of all time, and I was always disappointed that a complete soundtrack was not available. So... I made one myself!! This started as a personal project, but I thought it would be nice to share it with everyone at FFShrine.

This soundtrack is—to the best of my knowledge—complete. I've taken the best version of each song from the soundtracks I could find on the internet, and, when none existed, ripped the track myself. Many of these tracks aren't found anywhere else.

Some of the tracks are from the OST, others have been transcoded from the USFs, and others have been ripped with Project64. I've gone to great lengths to remove any auditory glitches that are present in other rips, and all editing was done losslessly. I'm not going to provide a list on the origin of every track, but if anyone desperately wants to know the origin of a specific track, just ask.

Note that many of the song tags are different from what may be in other releases (and some of the tracks have been combined or split as appropriate). I did not include any SFX tracks (item acquisition fanfares, etc.). The tracks are all MP3s (bit rates are all high, but vary by track).

You did a great job tree frog. It really bugs me when official soundtracks leave out 50%+ of the songs from the game. Especially with recent OSTs like Donkey Kong Country Returns when there is only 15-20 tracks on it, and there is well over 100 songs in the game... thanks for sharing! + rep

This soundtrack has 159 tracks, OST has 78....

There are... 81 tracks.... which means there are actually 3 more tracks missing, than the number of tracks in the OST (i.e. the OST has less than half of what's here).

Also, there's only one downside.... you need to amplify the non-OST tracks as they are significantly much lower in volume.

Hmm, I guess I never noticed that because I have "Sound Check" enabled in iTunes. Is there a way to amplify MP3's without reducing the quality (i.e. without de-compressing and re-compressing)? I could probably dig out most of the original WAV's, but this would be way easier.

Good question – the "normal" version of Bowser's Rage is the version that plays in the game, and was ripped directly from the ROM.

The "Star Rod" version is actually the track that was included on the Official Soundtrack CD, but as far as I know it does not play in the game. If you listen carefully, you'll hear that the "electric guitar" part of the song plays an octave higher. So, in short... I should probably have named it Bowser's Rage (Alternate) to avoid any confusion.

What about the unused tracks, like the unused intro etc.?

You probably didn't even get all the tracks, as:

-Toad Town Tunnels has a variation that plays when you're in the icy room before Shiver City
-There are 3 more unused tracks you forgot
-Koopa Bros. Fortress, the Koopa Bros. theme, Raphael the Raven's theme, and the Star Haven Sanctuary theme all have no-intro versions (also the no-intro version of Koopa Bros. Fortress actually uses slightly different instruments from the other one)

You are also missing when you find the Fearsome Five.

Well... the in-game intro is actually 3 separate tracks spliced together, which is included as track #1.

There was also a "beta" intro theme, but I didn't include it because it was clearly unfinished. The finished version of this track is used in the game as track #153.

Right, as I said in the description, none of the fanfares are included. There are hundreds of SFX tracks, which I did not include. The fanfare you are referring to is only 7 seconds long.

- The Toad Town Tunnels Shiver City variation is track #125 - "Shiver City Tunnel".

- There were quite a few tracks that had very minor variations at the start of the track. The normal battle music, for example, has 3 different intro variations, but since the only difference is in the first second, I only included the normal intro. You're right though - many of the tracks come with an alternate variation where the intro doesn't play (such as those you listed), but I chose to include the version with the intro.

This is awesome! ^^ I just played this game for the first time just now (finished it yesterday), and I loved it, it's amazing! ^^ For some reason, despite playing Thousand Year Door when it was new, and loving it, it took me this many years before finally playing the original (I have a copy of the N64 version, but I played the game on my Wii. Better picture quality). Glad I finally took the time though, it was well worth it. To be honest, while I think the story in Thousand Year Door is even better, and it obviously has better graphics (and maybe even better music), I think this game may actually be better in other respects. Like, most importantly, it just feels to me like many of the locations and chapters are better, not to mention longer, than the Thousand Year Door counterparts. Not all of them though. I also overall like the partners better in this one (though I like the TYD ones as well, and Yoshi is still my favourite). It's a shame Jr. Koopa (or was it Troopa?) never joined up on Mario's side. I really thought he would. :P I like the little guy. Super Paper Mario is a great game too, but not as good as the two before it. I wish they hadn't departed from the RPG formula in favour of a platformer formula. Have not played Sticker Star yet.

You are absolutely right – good catch! I 'm impressed. Track 30 and Track 46 should have their labels and track numbers switched. I won't be re-uploading the soundtrack to swap the labels, but thanks for letting me know! :)

On a side note, I hope to eventually release a proper FLAC version of this soundtrack. This will unfortunately necessitate a lot of work, as I don't have many of the original or intermediate tracks in a lossless format... We'd be looking at a timeline of at least a year before I'll get around to this, but I'm committed! I've invested a lot of time into this project.
