Ya, I'll admit I was extremely bummed when I found out it's 97% near identical to the OST, but at least I have it just to have. The same thing occurred with Sherlock Holmes. Identical

What do you mean "too bad"? If it had the kick in it, then it would be identical to the OST (aside from the other two missing tracks). If you ask me, it's interesting to hear that section with out the kick present. It gives you an opportunity to see what components belonged to the manipulation of the kick and what components belonged to the score.

I'm just curious and i also thought you'd like to know... In anyway i appreciate the share because it gave me the opportunity to listen to the track i mentioned before, so thanks again :)

Who knows? It could be 10x better than the original FYC cover. But if you look at the Hugo FYC I posted, I left the original cover as well because I thought it worked the best. Sometimes the logo on a plain black background looks the best.

Well, at least I can explain "A Half-Remembered Dream". Remember that it's the only other place on the soundtrack that contains an extrapolation and manipulation of "Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien". As for "We Built Our Own World": maybe they just left it off because the cross-fade between it and "A Half-Remembered Dream" is the worst and most noticeable one on the OST.

Right. I always forget about that one, due to how edited it became. After all, it's simply "Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien" slowed down. I also wonder if the FYC is a mixture bewteen Zimmer & Balfe. The credits are still not listed on HZ.com, so we don't know for sure. But there are the cues on his site...

Don't ask me why, but I'm updating the link with FLAC...I finally found a program easy enough to rip CDs in. Sparktank or Sinus, you guys can be the judge(s) here. it is my guess that your rips have no problems with them (true lossless rips), but that the FYC was mastered lossy. a couple other FYC's have the same (such like How To Train Your Dragon i think), so it would not be first time for this.

I'll try it with another then, because I am curious. Perhaps Slumdog, that's another one I have physically that I've shared publicly

What about 'The Dark Knight Rises' FYC promo? Is that the same as the standard commercial release?

Most likely. It appears to be the same case as Cloud Atlas and Argo. It's as if WB doesn't care for one of their scores to take home the Oscar this year. No effort at all. Sure, it's been done in the past by Paramount and Disney (Lemony Snicket, Finding Neverland), but 3 promos identical to their OST counterparts is like saying to the academy "don't vote for any WB scores this year"

O_O I actually hadn't seen this before.

But reading everything, I would suspect the disc was mastered with lossy tracks.
Why? Who knows. Maybe the engineers didn't care. Maybe the judges don't care as long as it plays.

I can't imagine what Waiting for a Train sounds like without Piaf though.
: jackiechan :

I was actually thinking of doing an edit where I include MORE Piaf to closely resemble the movie.
It's been a long time since I watched the movie so I'll have to give it another watch and setup a plan.
I'll also have to try replicate the tremoring/vibrating effect used in the movie.
They don't just slow down Piaf, they also add some sort of "vibrato" effect.
Not the "vibrato" effect used in Sound Forge. That chain of effects is labelled something else in other programs.
I'm talking about the singing vibrato~

Sanico

DAKoftheOTA

Sparky, it may just be my piece if SHIT Dell Inspiron or the program I'm using. Once I get my Macbook Pro I'll invest more time in this and download the proper program and see if it's my problem and not how the disc was mastered

tehƧP@ƦKlyANK -Ⅲ
04-13-2013, 02:22 AM
I've been hearing some controversy on EAC.
Some report that it produces sonic residuals when ripping. :itsamystery:

But others seem to be happy using Foobar, it can utilize the AccurateRip database...although AccurateRip isn't required since this is an FYC disc, which is rare and not likely to show up in the AR database (enough times to merit a comparison for said accurate ripping).

"Easy CD-DA Extractor" seems to be popular too.
