I've been searching the forum for material I've got that doesn't appear to have been posted here before. I think I've found another one. . . .
Basil Poledouris's score for the 1986 film Iron Eagle is a surprisingly nice and substantive piece of work, accompanying a B-grade, Saturday matinee-style movie (though it was not, as some people think, a desperate attempt to clone Top Gun, which actually came out a few months later). It's got some strong patriotic themes and decent action sets, along with a few alternates and source cues. Most of the movie's soundtrack was covered with pop songs from the time—this was an MTV-generation flick, no question—so the score isn't as long as it would've been if it hadn't had to share space with bands like Queen and King Cobra. But they left some room for Basil, and he did well with what he had to work with.
Wish I could post an image of the cover, but for some reason the site won't let me put up anything large enough to be worthwhile (can anyone tell me why that might be?). To make up for it, I'll go ahead and post the tracklist:
1. Iron Eagle (Main Title) - 1:59
2. Shot Down - 1:15
3. Hallway - 1:51
4. Ted On Trial - 1:27
5. Three Days/Minister Sinister - 2:37
6. The Gallows/Flight Line I - 3:32
7. Chappy's Story/Appetite - 3:31
8. Iron Eagle Story/Flight Line II/The Coast - 4:11
9. Chappy Gets Hit/Chappy Crashes/Chappy Talks - 4:16
10. Ted To Tarmac/The Tower - 2:26
11. Doug And Dad - 2:41
12. Think You Can Handle The Music - 2:49
13. Missing Man/You've Earned Them - 2:30
14. Three Days/Minister Sinister (Alternate) - 3:52
15. Flight Line I (Alternate) - 2:24
16. Flight Line II (Alternate) - :54
17. Chappy Talks (Alternate) - 1:50
