Any one use any file comparison tools to examine different files?

a VS. b?
b VS. c?
a VS. c?

Not for audio but examining installer files.
I suspect some installer files are the same no matter what.

Logictech Gaming Software (for Dual-Action Gamepad) lets you choose your OS and bit version before downloading.
But I suspect no matter what all the 64 bit versions are the same installer files across all OS'es.
The same for the 32bit versions.

Why would they do that?
I have 2 machines and if I ever fix my Vista laptop, 3 machines.
Plus when I visit my friend, he has a Windows 8 laptop.

I believe I could download just one x86 and one x64 version and use it for all.
All the info for any version you pick is all the same.
The Windows 8 version you select doesn't change "posted date" or anything.

I downloaded all of them into separate folders and want to examine them all so I can email them and bitch them out straight to their face.

I use ExamDiff (freeware)

I use Regshot to make a thorough comparison of the system "before and after" installing some software.

if both installers are identical as you suggest, wouldn't checking the ckecksum (no pun intended) be enough ?

I find since Win 7/8, there's been a lot of doubling up on software. Mostly just renaming.
Some companies will actually list Vista/7/8 all in one installer while a few will make you separate ones for each system. :rolleyes:

I also find 7/8 to be crap on its own and most of the time requires "Vista Compatibility" enabled. :rolleyes:
