Here is a 6 minute medley of the music from Joel Schumacher's 2004 film version of Andrew Lloyd Webber's 'The Phantom of the Opera'. This medley undoubtably comes from a recording sessions bootleg (either the initial or from one of the many subsequent foreign cast recording sessions of the soundtrack highlights) where the entire score was recorded first prior to the cast's voices being added to them afterwards. I got this clip from a video that was posted on youtube nearly 18 months ago now, whereby the uploader (phanphantomful) took great delight in teasing me and others with them for a good many months after that (including sending me a link to a password-protected 3-gig file and deliberately giving me the wrong password for it, so it could never be opened).

Anyway, he claimed to have tracked them down via another youtube user who had supposedly uploaded a few brief excerpts approximately 6 months before that, and despite my offering him just about everything for a copy of them in return, I have to face facts he is never going to share them or reveal where he originally got them from with me either. Therefore, I am turning to the membership of this site to help me track down a copy as there must be others out there with these recording sessions in their possession.

Finally, I have loved this score ever since I first heard it back in 1986 and it's directly responsible for my current career in music. If I was able to get a copy of these sessions, I'd be totally made up for life!

Many thanks :-)

NOTE: Music excerpts include Think of Me, Angel of Music, The Music of the Night, Prima Donna, All I Ask of You, Entr'acte, Masquerade, Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again, Twisted Every Way, Point of No Return and Final Lair/Track Down This Murderer. Also, the uploader added a verbal copyright notice at regular intervals throughout to tease us all still further!

You had me excited there for second! i thought you got lucky enough for the entire sessions! But this is still great though! Hopefully one day the full sessions/pre-recorded tracks will get leaked!

It proves they exist and are out there, at least.

It's just a matter of tracking down the right people, no? The trouble is, as evidenced here, not a lot of people want to share what they have. In the case of the guy mentioned, it's hoarding, plain and simple. All right, i probably wouldn't post it publicly for a while myself, but I'd certainly offer it up as trade material if I had it.

Still have that 3 GB file? There are ways of cracking the password...

I can understand that. I knew people had TRON and all 3 Pirates before they went public. As soon as something gets publicly posted, it loses it's value by 100%. It's like buying a Rolex and sticking it down the garbage disposal

Yeah, that was I was just thinking.

No. Had a couple of whizz kid hackers on it for ages till they gave up. Anyway, he later confessed it was a fake along with some studio log he'd produced and sent me a photo of as well. Lovely chap!!!

Thing is, I do have stuff just as valuable (if not moreso) that I'd be willing to trade for it. The hard part is finding someone who has it that's up for a trade. Anyway, I really do appreciate your interest and comments guys - thanks very much :-)

Just finished listening (COPYRIGHT, THE REALLY USEFUL GROUP) to this. Cannot wait until the full (COPYRIGHT, THE REALLY USEFUL GROUP) recording sessions see the light of day, since the score was the main element (COPYRIGHT, THE REALLY USEFUL GROUP) that I really enjoyed about this film.

It's not a blocked file, it looks like phantomman86 removed the file himself (although I could be wrong). It's just samples anyway, so you're not missing too much.

I didn't add the awful verbal copyright notice that runs throughout, the guy who has the sessions did! I've tried to remove it but it's been mixed right across the stereo track unfortunately therefore making removal impossible.

I took the link down as the youtube one is more than sufficient to showcase it.

Also, I'll be posting some rips shortly I have been able to do of the soundtrack from various foreign DVD/Blu Ray releases and a special super audio, surround sound CD release that was produced for the American market.

New instrumental medley from 'Phantom' featuring 'Chandelier Crash', 'Down Once More' and the Final Lair scene ('Track Down This Murderer').

This I put together using such sources as a surround sound SACD release, an Italian blu-ray release and a Japanese blu-ray release!

Enjoy!

Awesome! Looking forward to listening to this part since it had the most powerful orchestral moments in the whole movie.
Oh, and phantomman, don't think that my previous post was a knock on you, it was on the people who put the vocal copyright notice on it. I've always appreciated the posts you've been putting up...

It sounds amazing and you'll love it! It took me a while to sort out all the bloody levels that they'd fucked about with when editing it into the film, but the finally result was more than worth it! Anyway, this is just a taster as I've done a great deal more from it. Just waiting for two foreign DVDs to turn up (Korean and German - both with a DTS 96/24 soundtrack), to see what could be had from them before uploading the lot!
