when you're heading into the center of Midgar, is it best to take Tifa's advice and sneak in or take what's his name's advice and bust through security?

There's no real advantage to either route - it just depends if you feel like watching screen after screen of stairs with an Elixir thrown in one, or whether you feel like some good-ole-ass kicking.l

So what? Busting in gets you more experiance, basicly?

I don't remember it well enough to answer the exp thing... But does it matter? It's not like you can't run in circles on the world map later in the game or anything...

Ya, pretty much it doesn't matter, but it may help in the long run if you get more exp from this. I was also wondering if there were advantages to taking the secret aproach, like maybe finding good items, like materia or or some thing that could help you. Anyways, i think im just gonna barge right in 'cause thats more of my style when it comes to these games anyways.

As a sidenote, it's worth sneaking in at least once just to hear Barret's whining as you scale the stairs. Once you've done it once, you might as well bust in and randomly fight your way up. I just prefer it as if I was to invade the most secure organisation in the world, busting in would be my style.

You get more in favour with Tifa so she'd be more likely to go on the Gold Saucer date with Cloud, but if I were you, I'd bust in for a chance of dating Barret.

Well there are two times were you can go into the Shinra HeadQuarters, before you leave Midgar, and after you defeat Diamond Weapons and are about to face Proud Clod. You can retrieve the Behemoth Thorn from the stairwell. It doesn't really matter about the exp you receive from the Shinra soldiers, because they only give about 50 to 70 exp, and 20 ap.

If you bust in you get to see a car advert.
If you sneak up you get an elixir.
Why not bust in then go down the stairs to get the elixir when you reach floor 49?
Then you get the EXP and the item :)
Also, when you go back to ShinRa HQ you get Cait Sith's ultimate weapon, the HP Shout.

I agree with going up the stairs because It is funny watching Barret. By the way, what is a car advert?

in ff7 when everyone busts out of the shinra building. barret sits in the back of the truck and yet does nothing to help shoot the stupid basterds on the damn motorcycles

That's a good point. Maybe he was out of ammo because of the fight with the robot thingy or something.

Car Advert is short for car advertisment, which could of been watched inside the accessories store in the Shinra Headquarters. The Behemoth Horn is a weapon for RedXIII. It has 6 unlinked slots with normal gain.

Indeed there is.
In the accessory shop, to the left at the back, is a screen. First time, when you enter the shop, people are standing by it and run off. If you press O or whatever your confirm button is, then you can watch an advert for a Shinra car.

There are nine sets of stairs. On the fifth set of stairs, is an elixer. I take the stairs everytime, just to listen to Barret's comments.

I love doing the stairs. Its funny to watch the conversation. I mean after going up a couple flights you do wonder how many more stairs you have to go up but its all worth it to see barret whine.
I think that i only bust in like one time

I always bust in, it's fun to fight. Plus you get to train Barret and Tifa quite well. What items are on the stairs when you go up the first time? I've only ever been on disk 2.

(This topic still exists!!?)

You get an elixer the first time you go inside the stairs, but the second time you arrive at shinra headquarters and go through the stairs you get the BEHEMOTH HORN, which is a REDXIII weapon.
