Many thanks for this, Duque!
Zhao is probably the most important composer in China, who has composed lots of great Chinese tv/film scores.
ps: This "Raise The Red Lantern" by Zhang Yimou won the Silver Lion in Venice in 1991. Its story writer Mo Yan has just won the Nobel prize in literature 2012.

If anyone wants to hear more music by Zhao Jiping i recommend this compilation of some of his scores performed by the China Symphony Orchestra: Thread 90166. The links are not working anymore, but if anyone needs a re-upload then let me know.

Many thanks for this, Duque!

Yes, I'd say that Tan Dun is not far away in importance, and internationally he's a bigger name, but yes i agree with you that Zhao scored the most important Chinese films of the last decades.

actually this movie was based on the novel "Wives and Concubines" by Su Tong, not Mo Yan. But another film by Zhang Yimou "Red Sorghum" was written by Nobel prize winner Mo Yan :D
