Thanks for this, I just tried "overture", I heard some chorus in it. So I guess it's the new recording (2001) by the New Philarmonia Orchestra, not the original LP version.

ps: R.I.P. Sir Richard Rodney Bennett.

You should see the film. It is a classic.

Nicholas and Alexandra is a 1971 biographical film which tells the story of the last Russian monarch, Tsar Nicholas II of Russia, and his wife, Tsarina Alexandra.

The film was adapted by James Goldman from the book by Robert K. Massie. It was directed by Franklin J. Schaffner.

It won Academy Awards for Best Art Direction-Set Decoration (John Box, Ernest Archer, Jack Maxsted, Gil Parrondo, Vernon Dixon) and Best Costume Design, and was nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role (Janet Suzman), Best Cinematography, Best Music, Original Dramatic Score and Best Picture.

How I would like to read someone's opinion of this music.... instead of suffering Internet illiteracy. :-(

I like the music but the only thing i think was missing is disregarding "God Save the Tsar," Sir Richard should have included it even just mix it in his music. So you can atleast feel the Russian Empire....that's my opinion

Oh, please, please can someone help me get my hands on this link. I adore this beautiful score by Richard Rodney Bennett and the stunning movie it graces. I would be so grateful. Thank you,
Paul

Oh man, I just watched this utterly amazing film this evening (the Twilight Time Blu-Ray release). The score by the great Richard Rodney Bennett is, in my opinion, first-rate. I realise the Blu-Ray has an isolated score track but I so, so would like to be able to download your 320 MP3 rip of it. Could you please, please, please either upload it or help me to get it?
