DEVIL IN A BLUE DRESS (Elmer Bernstein) (Lossless/flac)

Devil in a Blue Dress was a 1996 crime-drama with Denzel Washington as a war vet hired to locate the missing fiance of a powerful politician. Since it was set in L.A. in the 1940's, we get murder, crooked cops, ruthless politicians, and lots of jazz. Surprisingly, Bernstein went for something more bluesy and seductive, including a haunting main theme.

The soundtrack that was released on Columbia featured 11 vocals, and just 3 tracks of score. This disc has 29 score tracks totaling almost 56 minutes. Whoever created the artwork labeled the music as a 2-part suite, with tracks 1-12 being in part 1 of the suite, and tracks 13-20 in part 2. Since each track is separate, the whole suite-thing can easily be ignored. More importantly though, since there are actually 29 tracks (as also shown at SoundtrackCollector.com), the artwork is incorrect when it says Suite / Part 2: 13-20 instead of 13-29.

Denzel label #9811
Good stereo sound. No dialog or sfx.
Tau and EAC indicated all tracks on this disc to be lossless.
Disc was ripped to FLAC using XLD.

Seems interesting. Is it a Noire-like film? I love Noire films and pretty much anything set in LA. Thanks for the share Yepsa, I hope I like it

This disc has 32 score tracks totaling over 56 minutes. Whoever put this disc together labeled the music as a 2-part suite, with 12 tracks in part 1 of the suite, and the remaining 8 tracks in part 2.

12+8 = 20, not 32. Yur disc has 12+17 tracks , so it's the one that is listed on soundtrackcollector with 29 tracks. It was late, was it? ;)

Ooops! Thanks for the heads ups FunnyML. I forgot to carefully compare the actual tracks with what was listed on the artwork, versus SoundtrackCollector. There are often discrepancies, and here's what I found:

The artwork I have included in my upload is what came with my disc. It indicates there are 20 tracks total (suite 1 with 12 tracks, and suite 2 with 8 tracks). However, once ripped I could see that there are actually 29 tracks, which matches what is listed at SoundtrackCollector.com. I apologize for forgetting to mention that in my notes (now corrected)! The total time for all 29 tracks is 55:44. This is a about a minute less than the total that's printed on the artwork, and closer to the total listed at Soundtrackcollector. So what I have here seems to be what is shown at SoundtrackCollector.

Thank you for this. Very much appreciated. I've always enjoyed this film and think it's terribly underrated. It's actually quite good and I think it's such a shame that it didn't become a film franchise, since it's based on the first of author Walter Mosley's Easy Rawlins mystery novels, which, as books, have an enthusiastic following.
