Then you've got some catch-up listening to do, Mike :)

Great share, Yannis. I would've ripped my copy for y'all ages ago, it just never occurred to me that there wouldn't already be a live link somewhere.

I read somewhere that the starter material Goldsmith used for Russia House was recycled from a rejected score. I don't care, this is absolutely my favorite Goldsmith--one of my top 20 favorite scores in fact. I've probably listened to the closing credits track "The Family Arrives" a few thousand times in the past 20 years. Who'dathunk doudouk, sax & strings would sound so good together?

BTW Yannis, is that 2nd image a scan of the ol' CD long box? I had the same box from this score, held onto it forever then lost it along the way.

My last note about this score: sorted by album title in my iTunes library, Williams' Sabrina plays right after Russia House. Works out well when I'm in a romantic muzak mood.

About the source material for this score. It was Goldsmith's rejected score for "Alien Nation" which provided the main theme. It the same music but not nearly as good. I too consider this one of his very best, most emotionally moving scores ever. I love it for the emotional response it invokes and the inspiration it gives me. (I'm a screenwriter) Thank goodness that this one was rejected and turned into this wonderful score. Sometimes things happen that way.

Side note. If you listed to his score for "Cry, the Beloved Country" you will also notice he recycled the theme from "Zulu" as the main theme. Very interesting to listen to both side by side.
