These are all three end credit suites from the newly completed trilogy, presented in 5.1 surround encoded as DTS WAV files.

Burn them to a CD-R, pop it into your DVD player connected to your AV receiver and there you go.

The stereo downmix for TDKR sure sounds great, but the link for the 5.1 seems to lead to a corrupted 2-channel file. I was almost afraid to post, but this isn't "bitching" about the sound, it's "bitching" about the fact that there's no TDKR music here!

If you are hearing static it's because you aren't playing it correctly.

Do you know about DTS WAV files and how to play them? You can't just play them on your computer with Windows media player or something.

Tell me specifically how you tried to play it back and we'll go from there.

You're right of course, but I figured it out. VLC was being finnicky and I jumped the gun. Sorry about that and thanks again!

You've seen the other thread, so you know about the back and forth about the fact that I gave that track a bit of added clarity which resulted in a near-argument. I don't really care to repeat that hence my "bitching" remark. Playback compatibility is an entirely separate issue.

The true purpose of DTS WAV files is to burn them as is (no fades, EQ, no alterations of any kind) to a CD-R as a standard audio CD for home theater playback only on a DVD / Blu-ray player or CD player with a digital audio output to a DTS compatible AV receiver. Yes, it's possible to play them on computers with 5.1 setups, but it can be a little tricky. It's even possible to play them on PS3 without burning them.

it is possible to play .dts or multichannel wav files on the pc via foobar and the DTS-Plugin ( foobar2000: Components Repository - DTS decoder (http://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_input_dts))

strange: if i play the *.wav files it shows 2-channels, if i rename the wav file into *.dts it shows 6-channels

It's because of how DTS WAV files work:

The DTS 5.1 stream is embedded within a standard 44/16 WAV file so when it's burned to a CD-R as a standard audio CD, the DTS decoder in an AV receiver picks up that DTS stream and plays it correctly.

Most DVD players are capable of knowing it's a DTS CD right away. However play it back like any normal CD with analog 2-channel or a portable CD player, or put the WAV files into an editor and all you get is white static noise.

Such a great upload, thanks a lot. How exactly do you play these on PS3 without burning?

It'll only work if your PS3 is connected to an AV receiver.

If it's connected with HDMI:

What you have to do is go into the Audio settings and uncheck all of the 2-channel selections you can, so only the 2-channel 44kHz and the 2-channel 48kHz are left (these cannot be unchecked anyway)

Also, go into the Music settings and make sure the output is set to 44.1 / etc / etc and not 48.

Make sure Bitmapping is turned off.

What will happen is the PS3 will play the WAVs (the WAVs have to be on the PS3 or on an external drive but they cannot be streamed from your computer using a media server or anything like that) as the 44kHz files they are - standard WAV files like on a CD, and the AV receiver picks up the DTS stream in the same way it would if you were playing a DTS CD.

If you're using a Digital Audio optical instead of HDMI, the process is basically the same except you don't have so many audio setting options to uncheck.

If it doesn't work, it might be one or two settings I've probably forgotten about so play around with it a little. It should work and it's pretty neat. Can just store any DTS WAV in its own album on the PS3 like I do. Only thing is if you don't have it connected to a receiver that can decode DTS (for example if you have the PS3 connected only to a TV) then it won't work because there's nothing to pick up the DTS stream embedded in the WAV file.

I proudly present you: The Dark Knight Suites in 5.1 channel HD-Audio! True lossless streams from the Blu-Rays in 48 kHz.
Batman Begins and The Dark Knight are 16 bit because the TrueHD streams only contains 16 bit of actual data. The Dark Knight Rises is 24 bit from DTS-HD Master Audio. I have converted them to FLAC. Enjoy! :)

https://mega.co.nz/#!bIAxHJqa!Wp_8Cp5vlAecRTV3N0-a1n3hz7WUO_y3PpPTFr1fx34

Password: imbatman

My procedure:
1) Ripped the movies with MakeMKV from Blu-Ray. It made an on-the-fly transcoding for TrueHD and DTS-HD MA to FLAC (you need to set a path to dtsdecoderdll.dll from ArcSoft DTS Decoder 1.1.0.8 for this, even works with the Linux version).
2) I sought with VLC/SMplayer for the beginning of the end suite. Noted down the time. Opened the MKV with mkvmerge GUI, unchecked all streams under "Input" except the FLAC audio (yes, the video too), then gave the timecode to the program under "Global", "Splitting" → "Enable splitting..." → "after timecodes:". E.g. for TDKR 02:36:23.7, then I started remuxing.
3) Result: 2 MKV files, one with the movie sound stream, one with only the end titles. Ive tried several different timecodes and compared them to get a good beginning.
4) Extracted the FLAC file out of the MKV container with MKV Extractor Gui (Linux). Result: A FLAC file with wrong metadata (over 2 hours duration).
5) Reencoded the FLAC file with soundKonverter (Linux, uses the official FLAC encoder). Result: New FLAC file with right metadata.
6) Edited metadata in Amarok (music player, Linux).

I have noticed a little clicking in the TDKR file in 1:21, 1:25, 1:26, 1:30. But this is also in the German AC3 stream of the disk, so obviously not my fault (SHAME on Warner!).
Good listening! =)

The reason I chose simple DTS CD-style WAV files is because of three key issues:

-File size, as they are no larger than if they were ripped from a regular stereo CD.

-Quality, as there is really no perceptible difference in audio quality going from the Blu-ray to a DTS CD. It's not like the difference between an mp3 at a lower bitrate and an uncompressed WAV file.

-Convenience: Call me old fashioned but unless I'm editing something, I NEVER listen to music on my computer. I don't use 'foobar' or 'VLC' or any other nonsense. I use a DVD / Blu-ray player, an A/V receiver and a set of large speakers in my living room. That's the reason I don't use formats that are computer-dependent like FLAC or APE. With the right configuration, DTS WAVs can be played back on PS3 as I've noted. No need for even burning a disc.

If I were to download your files, I would turn them into multichannel WAV files, turn them into an audio-only AVCHD disc and play it back on my home setup in PCM 5.1, bypassing the need to use a computer to enjoy them.

Well, it's up to you how you listen to your music. :) I have a good sound system and a good sound card on my PC and doesn't even have a standalone player. So, for anyone what they want to use. I like the idea of "plain" open formats like FLAC and WavPack without licensing industries behind and open documentation (DTS-HD MA is undecodable for free software so far).
I think I can hear a bit of a gain in dynamic in my lossless files and they have 4 kHz more than yours. And hey, it's lossless, that feels good! ;)

TDKR link is down, but if you follow JHFan's old thread, the link is still active there:

Since The Dark Knight Rises Blu-ray just leaked online yesterday, I downloaded the 1080p leak which includes a 5.1 DTS track.

This is a downmix of the front left, front right, center and LFE tracks into one stereo WAV file of the complete end titles.

I ran a high-pass filter on it to give it a little more clarity, because just like The Dark Knight's score and film mix, the quality is a little flat. Anyone who has the sessions from The Dark Knight knows what I mean.

I didn't downmix the rear channels into this because rears are typically used for reverb and would not sound very clear when completely downmixed to stereo.

I can upload it as a 5.1 DTS WAV though if anyone is interested.

Once the actual Blu-ray disc is in my hands (December 4th is the release date) I can do this again using the DTS HD lossless track itself.

Enjoy.

EDIT: This is from the Blu-ray, 135MB 24-bit stereo WAV file.
