What the hell?! It only has 7 downloads... Could someone have flagged it already?

Sorry, guys. I'm pretty frustrated with the frequently shifting file hosting situation of late. I'll leave Ben Hur up as long as its available, but I'm probably done uploading for a while. :(

you should use adrive.com,it's much better than mediafire: no file storage limit, file size up to 2GB,50GB storage/1 user,no file blocked, deleted due to copyright infringement

I was lucky then! The "quo vadis" recording is the one that i had listened before. This one sounds clearer, maybe because of the .flac file.
Now lets see how this Ben hur sounds
Gracias!

ben hur sounds great too, I also had already listen to this one before.
I always thought these were the "original" recordings but there must be some older recording from 195? or 1960, right?

just to share, this is a different re-recording, also great:

do you know of any other re-recordings I should know about?
I'm very grateful people like tazermonkey and tangotreats are there. thanks for your work!

Film Score Monthly released the original recordings for Ben-Hur, along with THREE re-recordings, in a five disc set earlier this year. As was the style at the time, the film score was recorded a little hot and there are performance issues with the re-recordings in that set; great for a completist, but not my cup of tea.

As far as I know, the original recordings for Quo Vadis are lost. Tadlow, via Prometheus Records, just released a re-recording of the complete score which I'm sure can be found here somewhere. More reasonable in its presentation than FSM's Ben-Hur, but I'm not a fan of some of the tempo choices, even if they are more "correct" to the film timing.

These Phase 4 recordings are special in that they are Rozsa's last recorded statement on this music. They are arranged and performed as music, first and foremost, which is not the case with a film score recording or many re-recordings; think of them as "symphonic suites." Also, both the orchestras and the recording quality are exemplary. For all these reasons, these are my preferred renditions of this music.

Hope some of that information is helpful.

For some reason I am getting an error when un-paking "DamnDirtyLepersA.rar: Unexpected end of archive" ! the real interesting part is, this is only happening through MediaFire! anyone have any ideas? or is it me (my computer)?

The original unpacks fine on my computer. If you download it again and it doesn't work, I'd say it's been corrupted. Sigh.

Working on a replacement host. Will share new links when available, but considering today is a holiday (gluttony for everyone) it may not be until tomorrow or later.

Thanks TazerMonkey for this quality Miklos Rozsa material. I've owned the Ben Hur recording in both vinyl and CD for many years but have been looking for the Phase 4 Quo Vadis for some time. I also enjoy the Rhino 2-Disc set of Ben-Hur from 1996.
