Before starting, I want you to know two things:

1.- My english is not perfect.
2.- I know that everyone likes different things.

I played both games (didn't buy them), finished the first one and didn't like them. I decided to read and watch reviews by fans (I don't trust "professional" reviews) and most of them were dissapointed:

* You don't have control over the whole party.
* X button will do anything you want.
* Leveling up: Making your characters stronger was terrbile but I liked a bit the way you have to upgrade a weapon.
* Too linear and no towns (fixed in the sequel).
* Too many endings: To me that was boring, I do not even liked the story.
* Catching monsters: This is supposed to be Final Fantasy not Pok�mon.

The moments (♠), music (♪) and characters (♦) are stupid:

♠ There are lots of cutscenes but not memorable events.
♠ Lightning's speech before facing Orphan 01: It was kind good but it was stolen from Terra's speech before facing Kefka.
♪ The soundtrack is too animeish and the tracks that included a violin are annoying.
♪ Born Anew: One-Winged Angel rip-off, compare the lyrics if you want.
♪ Nascent Requiem - 1:40, someone didn't make it to the bathroom.
♦ The only character design that I liked was Lightning using that Etro's Champion armor.
♦ Orphan 01: The kitchen utensil that wants to commit suicide and uses Merciless Judgement (Sephiroth's Heartless Angel).
♦ Orphan 02: A baby-faced clock or the result of mixing Brawshellla (Blazing Star) and Galactic Nova (Kirby Super Ultra)?
♦ Jet, Amber and Garnet Bahamuts: Someone got inspired by Yu-Gi-Oh!

The worst: Fanboys/girls. Here are some comments by those idiots:

Some weeks (months?) ago Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy: XIII was announced, here are my thoughts:

* A rose can have many meanings: If you're saying that a rose can represent the female sexual organs, you're right, if not, stop saying BS.
* Novus Partus will be exterminated in thirteen days, it reminds me of Termina Field from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.
* Will it have a Yu-Gi-Oh! monster or an inanimate object as final boss?
* What about FFT-0 and FFVsXIII?
* Why Square Enix insists in making games that most of people doesn't want?

To me, Final Fantasy died since Hironobu Sakaguchi and Nobuo Uematsu left.
I'm not a fanboy, Bravely Default: Flying Fairy looks really nice.

Yoshinori Kitase (game) and Masashi Hamauzu (music) dissapointed a lot of fans.

Maybe Tetsuya Nomura (GAYme) and Yoko Shimomura (music) can do something better with FFVsXIII.

It's okay your not the only one who thinks it sucks. I HATE it they really need to move on because it's discouraging to hear that another XIII is being made. Like really again after how bad XIII-2 was. It's just absurd that SE still wants to continue this story well hey it's their loss not mine.

I think that FF has moved further into a niche world, appealing only to a certain group of the FF fans. As long as there will be someone liking Lightning they will keep it up.
I too would like them to move on but what can any of us do about it?
