Many thanks indeed! I too watched and enjoyed this film as a child. :-)

It was a favorite of mine, too, as a kid. It's heroic & uplifting score so memorable. As a child I was so puzzled on how they made this movie. It was actually filmed in Wales. It was actually Robert Donat's last role since he was terribly ill during the filming. When the real Gladys was interviewed about what happened to her romance with Linnan she responded, "I have never had a romantic moment in my life." I dimly remember Malcolm Arnold stating it was his favorite film score. It certainly is impossible to forget its infectious theme. So imagine my surprise when a now long lost friend found this and so many other rarities for me.
