Well it would depend on stats, because if they both had full stats, and we're basically the same (which they are) then it would be a draw. They would both have the same amount of speed, so that would mean that they both go at the same time, and because both there strengths would be the same (presuming there 255), they would probably kill each other.

i think that it would have to be squall

cloud's got sephiroth to back him up man!

squall just barely made it cos he got a perfect Renzokuken followed by Lion Heart in. if not for that, Cloud woulda kiked his ass from here to jupiter

if u look at the ending of both games u can see who would win.
cloud fights to the very end , he does not care if he dies.
squall passes out and then wakes up and wonders around for god knows how long before anyone finds him.

if push came to shove, cloud would win. cloud refuses to die.
squall dont know if hes coming or going.

now if u want to see a fight , u should have tifa and zell duke it out. no magic , no levels.
just straight up martial arts.

Squall is more stable than Cloud is, he knows when to pull his punchs and could use Cloud's mental disorder against him.

I'd say Cloud wins this one, because their both good guy heroes they'd want to be respectful. So before the fight they walk up to each other shake hands and then bow to each other. But when they bow down Cloud's spikey hair puntures Squall's jugular. Fight's over before it even began.

And without junction Squall's stat would be much lower than Cloud's stats without materia, assuming their at the same level.

This will haf only one victor. Cloud Strife. His buster sword's force will eventually knock the gunblade out of Squall's hand.. there.

They would stalemate and then in a last-ditch effort, Cloud would start shouting at Squall. Squall would just stand there and be all "..." no matter what Cloud said and eventually Cloud would pass out from sheer exhaustion.

Here is the best fight you could wish for. A catfight between Tifa, Rinoa, Quistis, Selphie, Garnet/Dagger, Lulu, Rikku and Pane. In fact I�m gonna start that poll now.

let me see...15 slashes from the omni slash with the ultima weapon...plus squall is sort of a dumb ass wile cloud isnt really...plus squall was beat up at the very start (if that didnt tell you anything) wile cloud right off the start kicked ass...lion heart isnt much compaired to omni slash because 15 slashes that do 9999 each kills just about anything exept for emerald/ruby weapon in one hit...

Depends on the motivation behind the fight.

If it's just a sparring match or whatever, Cloud would win, because Squall just isn't that good with the gunblade (I mean, Seifer kicked his ass, only reason he could beat Seifer later was because of the GF's and junctioning stats and such. Whereas Seifer apparently did none of this).

It also depends on whether they both start off with their respective limit breaks ready. In that case, Cloud would likely win as Lionheart simply does not happen enough, or when it's really needed (depending on the luck stat, though, but if it was the same as Cloud's, then Squall would never get Lionheart, so there).

But in the more realistic scenario, the fight would never happen because they're both "good guys". So this is pointless discussion. Much like a "Tifa vs. Zell" discussion. The good guys wouldn't fight each other, simple as that.

Now, for heroes from one game facing off against the enemies from the other FF games... that's another story..

FF7's cast would pwn FF8's villians, whereas Squall and co. would shit their pants in the face of Shinra Inc. and the WEAPONS and Sephiroth.

Also, Knights of the Round pwns all FF8 GF's, and a crossover allowing FF7 heroes to carry that would easily tip things in their favor.

Hmmmm, Cloud or Squall?? This would be the tougest and most awesome battle ever existed in Final Fantasy. Cloud is a string guy, and his Limit Breaks are strong as well, but Squall has a strong Limit Break too. So I guess it would end up as a tie, but who knows how far it'll go?

And furthermore it would truly be a awesome spectacular battle because Cloud is the coolest hero ever but Squall is right behind him.

Cloud would so pwn squall, it would go down a little like this.

At first it would just be back and forth slashing. Then clouds limit gage would fill up before squalls health got low enough for him to do his thing and omnislash would cut squall up into little tiny pieces. Not to mention cloud would have armor equipped and you would put the champions belt on him which gives im +30 vitality and +30 strength

Plus Cloud's sword has got more power in it.. so its obvious who wins
