does this have the remix tracks as well?

You know so far I've only listened only to the second half of the OST (I don't know why, just randomly decided to skip the first 7 tracks) and must admit that I'm enjoying it. It's a pretty solid score. I wouldn't say that a change of a composer had a negative impact on the music of the franchise. This guy certainly understands that he is expected to deliver only high quality stuff and so far had been doing a pretty good job at it.

I'm thinking of pre-ordering a limited edition of the OST... before it's too late.

No.

thanks for the upload :).
so far I think it's ok, nothing really special. there definately is this halo-type of sound coming through in the way things are orchestrated. but on a thematic level (and I don't mean, that I miss the halo theme by O'Donnell) it's a bit anonymous. a lot of rhythm and epic orchestral build-ups, mighty chords etc but it feels a bit empty. after a first listen it feels a bit like "I have heard that before".
There are definately some strong parts, like the vocals in Legacy, which are wonderful, but it reverts back to this string ostinato da-da-da du-du-du so quickly, that it feels like it could have been composed for a lot of other games or films as well, not especially Halo.

It does have it's moments. The first three tracks are ok, but it picks up steam on it's later cues.[COLOR="Silver"]

That was fast. Thanks.
Should be interesting to hear a Halo score that wasn't done by Salvatori or O'Donnell.

Awesome, thanks! Really the only track that I'm absolutely loving so far is just 117. I agree that half of the soundtrack is meh, and the other half is decent. There's some other decent tracks in here but nothing really amazing.

For me Halo was ODonnell and Salvatori and I really like what those two guys were doing all these years. There were better moments (Halo 1 and 2, ODST), and worse (Halo 3). Overally Halo music had two important features - it was memorable and instantly recognizable. You always knew that U R listening to Halo score. And I loved that. So I really didn't know what to expect here. And why Davidge? Out of all composers in the freaking world? It was a clue to me.

After first minutes I was not very happy. Mediocre RCPish drum banging and live orchestra that sounds like not the most expensive samples. But I was listening and trying to enjoy it. So I changed my music receptors to listen to "electronica performed by an orchestra" and it worked well. I started to enjoy it. And suddenly tracks like "Solace" or "117" happened, unexpected finale "Green and Blue" etc. Really, really solid pieces.

So yeah, it's not bad, even very good at times, but it lacks one thing. Identity. Unfortunately.

Thanks for the share.

I prefer O'Donell's action tracks, but the grandious ones of this one.

And I'm not even a Halo fan :D

Going to correct myself about remixes: they are available with another version of digital release of HALO 4 OST:

Halo 4: Original Soundtrack (Deluxe Edition) - VGMdb (http://vgmdb.net/album/35968)

However this Deluxe Edition has 21 track, 6 of which are additional remixes, it is still not as many as there will be on the 2nd disc of the Limited Edition (Nov 6th), which will have a total of 14 remixes.

According what the official page says, there should be 3 more Neil Davidge tracks, which will not be included in limited edition?

- Exclusive free download voucher for 3 Neil Davidge tracks on the Halo game but not on the OST plus 3 additional remixes
If I understand it correctly, these 3 non-remix tracks are not included in CD and only available for those bought standard version to download?
I assume some guys already get their copies and perhaps have the download voucher?
I am not gonna to receive my CD until early November, so I am not really sure about it.

MiL

I think you understood it correctly.
And looks like the voucher is exclusive to a Standard CD version only, Limited Edition is not cool enough to get one.

Where did you find the rip? Can you provide a link? I bought the 21 track version from iTunes (with the remixes) and was disappointed that there wasn't more score than 15 tracks. I could honestly care less about the remixes.

He did not find the rip, he is making one. It is currently work-in-progress.

By the way I do care about remixes, so it'd be nice if you upload the 21 track version of Deluxe Edition from iTunes.

I bought it off iTunes so isn't it DRM encoded? It's also at 256kbps. Only other way I can think of to do it is to burn to disc then rip...

If you mean it won't be playable on other people's players than I think it should be fine. There's been a lot of iTunes releases here at ffshrine and none had DRM restrictions that I know of.

i was under the impression that itunes music was drm free, however i know the originals will still contain itunes information (such as purchased by, account name, etc) in the files themselves, but from my experience using the option to "create acc version" removes this infomation (checked with mediainfo).

but i don't think the drm exists, because i was able to play both the original and the acc version on my android (poweramp) without problems, and i was also able to play both files on my own player (mpc) on windows without issue too~

edit: converting the .m4a to another file type is an option too, but i think this would just degrade the quality as itunes music is variable bit-rate.

Man I listened to a few samples of the songs and there are about 3 that I've heard so far that have the Halo feel.

So far the only Halo game that didn't capture that at all was Halo Reach. Game sucked every way.

I want something like Halo CE. It has some of the best music I've ever heard. Too me that is Halo. Also Halo 2 also has some amazing Music. It fell apart somewhat this gen.

Hmm, I dunno if I'm just biased or what, but this just doesn't compare to Marty's work. Although 117 is beautiful.

It's okay.. but you're right it doesn't compare well, there are a few really good tracks (Awakening and 117) but nothing I would consider amazing, the rest are mediocre.

@uminoken Thanks for the bonus tracks!

I recommend removing the front cover images off the bonus tracks as they're a bit soft and a little dark.
