I must say I prefer the original version of 5m40.

i like to keep the original titles on the files, but the cover arts serves as a reference to note which scenes it corresponds with in the film. at least that's what i prefer. :) that's if your referring to the titles and not on the version just to be clear.

It's kind of upsetting me that the TDKR Complete Score thread had so many more posts by this point. These recording sessions kick ass, and there's way more unreleased material of value here. Not only is TDKR an inferior score, but it's unreleased material is primarily, though not always, just poorly edited versions of what was already released. This has a huge amount of unreleased and worthwhile material. Shame on film score fans for flocking to TDKR over another awesome John Williams work.

Sorry, I just have to gush that these sessions kick ass!

Damn, ever heard of different opinions and tastes, etc?

For the record, I don't even think they're comparable... I like them both a lot, but they're very different types of composers/scores. Apples and Oranges really.

Damn, ever heard of different opinions and tastes, etc?

For the record, I don't even think they're comparable... I like them both a lot, but they're very different types of composers/scores. Apples and Oranges really.

I was more comparing the responses to the leaks than the actual scores, though I do still firmly believe IJ4 to be a far better score.

It has nothing to do with taste. I mean, the only cue really worth downloading the TDKR sessions might be for the bar shoot out scene. The rest is pretty much already released. I mean, look at "All Out War", for when Bane fights Batman, that is just "The Fire Rises" edited, and the edits are very poor with fading out randomly, just further attesting to the poor quality of the score that Zimmer just assumed the film's sound mix would drown out his poor edits, but that's besides the point. In the IJ4 sessions, you have such interesting unreleased material like the Jungle Chase cues, the appearance of Mutt at the train station, the unreleased Area 51 music, the bible scene, the unreleased graveyard music, etc. It goes on. There's not much in the TDKR sessions that wasn't covered by the soundtrack and downloads.

And I think any score is comparable - IJ4 works better in its respective film, better, yes, even than the redundant deshi basara chanting. It's better written music with a musical complexity never touched by TDKR, and Williams wasn't so lazy as to reuse about the same 30 minutes of music over and over, aside from references to other Indy films, which I'm not complaining about. And while it has a few touches of synth, IJ4 was actually PERFORMED by an orchestra, not payed on a goddam keyboard by Hans Zimmer.

GDeitz
10-13-2012, 10:13 PM
The Star Wars prequels are just as bashed, but I think people would still download those in droves if they leaked. I don't know if they would receive as big a response as TDKR did, though.

Just over five minutes for me, on a Hotfile free account. Must be something going on for you, phbart. Hotfile ain't the fastest host in the world, but shouldn't be that slow.

If you allow me, could I ask you not to upload the FLAC version with Hotfile? I've been dowloading this 320kbps version for 2 hours now, and there are 5 hours left! Yes, 7 hours of download for a 311 MB file...

Seems fine for me as well, 13 minutes

HOLY SHIT!! ... sorry ;)

This is awesome! Ive waited such a long time for this... Lossless will be better of course (since I then could try and remaster it even though it sounds damn well perfect already). I cannot thank you enough for this, this release of yours made my day that has been very tiresome until now. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

Agreeing so much. Well it's not much of the flocking since most of them where the same persons commenting multiple times which is in no way bad, they must have love that score that much that's all. But if superiority is of concern to me it's nowhere near the Batman Begins score let alone compared to this score.

I just tried... same thing. Less than 5 kbps :(
I downloaded a 4 GB torrent just now at around 1,2 mbps, it took less than 1 hour...

A very good friend of mine works at a big University here, and he says the connection there is really powerful. Since there will be no classes tomorrow because of the "Teacher's Day", none of the students will be using it, so it will be even more powerful. I sent him the link and he will try tomorrow. If it still doesn't work, it's personal :)

Well if you look at the seller's feedback score, you can see that he or she has sold more than one copy of both the Crystal Skull and the Chamber of Secrets sessions. I bet another will turn up if we just wait it out. If that happens, you might even be able to get members to pool their money... Just a thought.

Yes, I'd rather have FLAC too but I'm eternally grateful for what's been given so far; to me, the music is the most important factor to consider.

I am assuming this is aimed at me but let me just clarify something..............I am eternally grateful for the upload.....it's just that the original poster did say the FLAC version will soon follow....I was just kindly reminding the uploader in case it's forgotten.....If someone has a Lossless version of Recording Session I would be grateful if they'd upload it in lossless as that means I can do additional mastering to the tracks in my mastering studio and play it on very high end gear and get absorbed by the music and not have to listen to shitty mp3 compressed quality music that only sound good on shitty Laptop speakers.............but that's just a personal thing......but once again I'm for ever grateful that these sessions where uploaded

I think the issue is just that the tone of the posts struck people the wrong way - that's the problem with only text (and using language that is descriptive but can be read as angry) as we have probably all discovered in really awful ways - I know I have.

I am excited about the lossless versions if they get posted, and I remain super appreciative of the 320 MP3s if that is the extent of what will be available.

phbart

I don't think 320kbps MP3 are "shitty". If it wasn't for the spectral display of Adobe Audition, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

However, I must say I do prefer FLAC over a 320kbps MP3.

Arial

IMHO, mp3's are especially shitty when it comes to material processed with reverb & compression.

I haven't DL'd anything here, so I don't know about it. I will if JP900 is a man of his word, wich I have no reason to doubt of.

Cubase 6.5 lets you edit FLAC files..........I normally rip the CD to WAV and work from there.......I use Wavlab......its a great program but expensive......when you level volume on an mp3 you loose quality............. when you do any sort of processing on an mp3 you degrade the sound quality of the file

well, he's already stated that he ordered the disc from e-bay, and that he is waiting for it to arrive. He says that he was given a 320 rip to listen to in the meantime. I....well, that is what he stated. I wonder if the disc is real losssless, if he got taken, or if he is messing with members. Dunno.

I had replied to the post before yours, but when I hit post, realized you had ALSO replied. Yours posted first, effectively making my reply redundant, that's all. So I retracted mine and put in it's stead "woops"... for er, no sound reason at all really :D

With the spectral analysis of Adobe Audition, it will be easy to tell. As soon as he posts it (not using Hotfile, I hope :)), I'll check it.
IMHO, I don't think he's messing with us, otherwise he wouldn't have posted a 320kbps version but would just tell us he has it, but is not allowed to post right now or something like that...

I can tell from the few tracks i have compared that they are the same. In Audition, FLAC has the same spectral view as the MP3, so no real lossless.

Edit: Yes, they look exactly the same. If these files were ripped from the CD, the source is not lossless, sorry.

Probably because the MP3 files the seller sent JS900 are the source of the CD.

I would say, that if the MP3's JP900 received were ripped from the CD, they are, but if they were the SOURCE of the CD (He burned the mp3's to the CD) he sold then, no.

Save yourself some time and get the MP3s instead. Qualitywise they're exactly the same only bigger, but they have the correct track titles. Which also answers this:

So...are they ANY better than the mp3'S? I don't see the point in re-downloading the files if they're not.

And FYI, i'm not spoiled. I'm on the contrary grateful for this share and being able to listen to it. I was only pointing out that these tracks are NOT lossless so people can chose what to download and save some time and money. Not everyone has a "free" internet and can download as much as they want :)

Seriously, listen to Calidoran! :) The FLAC is definitely sourced from the mp3; you're gaining nothing from the FLAC, except larger filesizes and lack of tags. Stick to the Mp3s!

Calidoran
10-23-2012, 10:53 AM
If i might suggest to the original poster: Remove the links for the flac version since they only add larger filesizes and nothing to quality.

But hey, who am i to argue... if people want to spend time downloading the same thing as the mp3s, let them. The word "FLAC fetischist" pops up... I could smack the BMW sign on a Skoda, but that still doesn't make it a BMW.

First, big thanks to jacksparrow for posting this. It is an excellent share, even if the FLACs are from mp3s.

But here is my question: what is the source of the posted mp3s? If they were ripped from the CD by the original seller for sending to jacksparrow, then the posted mp3s are double lossy encoded---mp3->FLAC->mp3. It this is true, then there is a benefit to downloading the posted FLAC files. Any thoughts?

I can also confirm that the FLACs were from a lossy source. Like Calidoran, I did this by loading several tracks into Adobe Audition and viewing the Spectral view. When compared to the corresponding Mp3 version, the spectral display is absolutely identical (showing the distinctive absence of high frequencies caused by compression). The only difference is less silence at the beginning and end of the FLACs. I then deleted the FLACs.

Like Faleel mentioned earlier, chances are that the Mp3s that were originally posted are all that has leaked, and the CDs sold were burnt from the Mp3s.

Nobody is bitching; merely pointing out a problem in an effort to save people from an unnecessary download.

The CD is sourced from the MP3s; that's a fact. Discussing the problem (instead of insulting and jumping down their throat of anybody who even dares to notice it) is useful and educational. We have established that either the recording sessions only exist as 320kbps MP3, or that a known eBay seller is unscrupulous. That's valuable information for any collector. It doesn't take away from the kindness of the original poster (who, I am sure, is probably chagrined at having paid for a CD and subsequently discovering it is sourced from MP3) nor does it take away from the value of these recording sessions.

To set the record straight what I think. For one I put my money because I had feelin none of those other buyers would share it. I did not have to share it with anyone. All I know is I have the complete score to Crystal Skull without any SFX and sounds absolutely amazing when listening to it. I don't care if it was sourced from MP3. The only reason I bought it was it was THE COMPLETE SCORE EVERY NOTE JOHN WILLIAMS RECORDED and not some fan made edit using dvd rips. If I didn't share it everyone would still have an incomplete release.

So you think i'm acting like a spoiled entitled brat? Good to know...

I DID say i was grateful for this upload, becuase it's truly as someone said, an early christmas present. But that doesn't change the fact that it IS a lossy source and everything i was trying to do was to inform people of this. The simple reason as i also stated, everyone doesn't have unlimited down/upload capabilities. I would have been perfectly happy with the MP3 upload and to be honest, i didn't dare hope for more. But i was still happy.

Now, can you do me the favor of reading my posts and tell me EXACTLY where i was bitching!? And also where i was acting like a spoiled, entitled brat!?
