With the game celebrating its 5th anniversary next week, I thought it is about time to create a collection of all the music the game has to offer.
Team Fortress 2 has the same problem as World of Warcraft and other MMO games: Its score is constantly updated, but in this case the updates are at least manageable and we're only talking about one or two songs once every few months. I hope that Valve won't release a new song anytime soon, but historically-speaking they never released a huge update on the game's birthday, so it should be ok.
This soundtrack includes all tracks found in the game's data which can be extracted with GCFScape. There's a rare track included as well - the original "More Gun". I was lucky to have it extracted before Valve replaced it with a slightly-different version, which in turn was replaced with a thrid version which has nothing of the charme of the original. This is no YouTube video conversion or anything, it's the real deal!
The last two songs are MIDI versions of "Intruder Alert". To my surprise, there was a MIDI file in the game's files which I didn't notice until a month ago. I've recorded it to MP3 with the standard piano instruments (the "Standard" track) and added this music track (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2m5RkbulDdA) with proper MIDI instruments (the "Enhanced" track).
The tracks are all in 128kbps except for Dreams of Cruelty, and they're all in MP3. Hardly lossless I know, however the only possible lossless source is The Orange Box soundtrack which only contains 4 tracks. The tracks sound great either way, and converting MP3 to FLAC just for the sake of FLAC is kinda pointless in this case. So just enjoy the music!
