For years I wanted to 'remaster' this score. As you all know the US-DVD contains the isolated score and that content has subsequently been released as a 2-CD edition. Problem is: the sound quality is crap, the tracks show severe distortion, some unnecessary artificial reverberation and noises related to grounding issues. The official CD doesn�t sound too well either: thin, not very impressive and a tad harsh. With this release I attempted to correct all these obstacles. I wasn�t entirely successful but I managed to move the bootleg tracks much closer to the official tracks regarding sound quality. For example I eliminated the grounding noises almost completely, the distortions were diminished as well. The awful artificial reverb however is still there, no chance to remove it. While I was at it I also removed the source music cues from the bootleg tracks - they don�t belong on this set. Of course, just like I did on 'King Kong' I combined some tracks in order for the score to 'flow' better. When all was said and done I remastered the whole package into something with more punch, more crispness, more colour and slightly better instrument seperation.

Is it complete? I really don�t know... some tracks from the DVD have been edited so it�s impossible to say what was recorded but wasn�t included in the movie.
Does it sound well? As well as it can.
Will I release mp3? No, never.

BTW, you�ll need a 900 MB CD-R in case you want to burn it. I could have done a 2-disc edition but that would have looked strange on the cover; I also avoid 2-disc editions as much as I can.

Very interesting. You seem to be like me: if it sounds bad it will not even be downloaded. Well, it helps to be highly selective about the scores one listens to.

wow thanks a lot Sonic. I really like the Mummy score. Probably the last in a long list of great Goldsmith scores that he composed in his career.

The music sound excellent

I've been listening to this score a lot lately (Always been a Williams fanatic but now I'm on a huge Jerry kick) - just downloaded the old 2 disc version recently - well now there is even better. Thanks, Sonic.

Not sure, but the final track from SonicAdventure's edit is "25. The Sand Volcano - 6:48", which also was the final track on the original Decca release (however, the Decca version only had 5:39 min).

Right now, I don't know what track or tracks are played while the end credits are running, but I guess the end credits as heard in the movie are a combination of other tracks from the score, and Jerry Goldsmith didn't compose a separate "end credit" track.

I would ask SonicAdventure, he put this Deluxe Edition together and should know the answer.

You�re right. The End Credits are the one from the Decca OST. The End Credits version that was within the movie was an edited piece and since I don�t like redundancy (because bits and pieces popped up during the course of the complete score) I only used the original piece from the OST. It�s longer because I put the last 'storyline'-related piece in front of it.

That static was also bothering me and I successfully reduced it. But 100% removal wasn't possible I'm afraid.
