This CD offers the other suite version of "Gone With The Wind". A 30 minutes, Seven part suite was performed by London Symphonia Orchestra, conducted by Walter Stott. Dated probably late 50s to early 60s. Please note this is not LSO. The print on the CD contains a misspelling as London Symphonic Orchestra. FLAC+Scan+log.

The bonus is several poorly recorded Stephen Foster songs by a small ensemble. I'd rather to listen to Mantovani's version. So only MP3 is uploaded for this part.

Thanks for this rare CD!!!

Walter Stott was an arranger and composer of popular swing band and light orchestral pieces through most of the 60s, until he decided he needed a change of pace - and turned into Angela Morley ("Watership Down")! The name of the "orchestra" probably isn't misspelled: in those days there were many more pick-up bands used for commercial recordings, employing musicians from the various London orchestras. Thus, they needed a "fake" name for the album cover. Also, if a standing orchestra recorded music outside of the contract with a specific record company, they would give themselves a slightly different name so it wouldn't be a breach of contract. Both variants are possible here, but most probably it's a pick-up London band (like the National Philharmonic Orchestra or the Sinfonia of London in later years).

Thanks koala123 for this rare (at least to us in the States) Australian CD from the great Max Steiner and Stephen Foster.

Hey Wimpel69, so Walter Scott is actually Angela Morley?

@kobalski: Yes, he/she was. Stott underwent a sex change operation in 1972.

Thanks to Wimpel69 for the information. I didn't realise they are the same person. Actually apart from this CD, I never heard the name of Walter Stott anywhere else. The liner notes mentioned this recording was based on a suite Steiner arranged and conducted in a concert in 1943. However, it didn't mention when and where this recording was made. Although it was in London for sure. The notes also mentioned this was a hand picked orchestra by Stott for recording session.

The miss-spelling part is: the cover has London Symphonia, whereas London Symphonic on CD.

Yes, I agree those Stephen Foster songs are pretty good to hear.
