You have to see the movie my friend, is also a great experience, I remember when I saw it for the first time, one of the first scenes when Ron Kovic as a kid is at bat, and he hits the ball, oh man, I cried like a baby!!

It�s a perfect example of how a movie should be scored, a perfect marriage between images and music!!!

Well, on your recommendation I downloaded and watched the film this afternoon :)

I think I was a bit confused by the title - I was thinking of "When Every Day Was the Fourth of July," not "Born on the Fourth of July". I was initially concerned by 1) it having Tom Cruise in the leading role - He wouldn't have been my first choice for the role; and 2) it really wasn't my 'type' of film - I don't care that much for war-related movies, other than older, "Classics."

All that being said, I watched it in its entirety and was very pleasantly surprised both by the content and Mr. Cruise's performance. There were a couple of scenes where he didn't convince, but overall he did a good job of drawing me into the film.

As to the music, John Williams did an outstanding job (as always :P ) setting the moods, building emotions and drama within the film. I also noted a few recurring bits that were very, very similar to David Arnold's score to the 1994 film "Stargate" - But then, nearly everyone's a fan of John Williams, and "Imitation is the Highest Form of Flattery" :)

Thank You again for the soundtrack, and an extra Thank You for recommending I watch the film - I can foresee at least one more viewing of it before I croak :)

I�m glad you had a pleasant afternoon watching this great movie, the acting by Willem Dafoe, oh man, he steals the show!

Vey well directed, in fact is my second best loved film By Stone, beeing the first of course... Salvador.

Well it is really a moving soundtrack and film. I personally think it is a very underestimated one. It chills and thrills me every time I hear it.

It is nice to know that I'm not the only one crying while listening to moving soundtrack scores. Wonderful thread Erich.

I'm curious, though, if there is a noticeable difference in sound quality between the two. Because while I very much prefer complete/film mixes to album arrangements, the quality of a release is always the most important thing to consider. Which version would you recommend?
