Finally after three decades of waiting Intrada has issued a fantastic disc of the soundtrack to the film "The Mountain Men" which starred Charlton Heston and Brian Kieth. The film was a throwback to the old fashioned westerns of the 1950's but with lots of violence, cursing and sometimes raunchy humor. The film was more a serious telling of life for this small generation of men in the same vein as "Jeremiah Johnson". The original poster art was an almost cartoonish piece that showed the two main characters running from unseen Indians as arrows fly past them.

Directed by Frasier Clark Heston, Charlton's son the film was pretty much a box office failure. Beautifully filmed on location in Grand Teton National Park the film had a magnificent score my Michel Legrand. I think it's one of his very finest along with "The Other Side of Midnight" and "Ode to Billy Joe". I saw the film in theaters at the time and liked it but I loved the score. I searched for months to see if a soundtrack album was released and it never was. Now this fantastic stereo mixdown made from the original six track masters in the Columbia Pictures vaults is here. The sound is some of the clearest I have heard of any score recorded at that time and you can hear every instrument. Enjoy it.

The file includes scans of the CD artwork.

Yes Scoreman44 it was and honestly it sounds great, I asked because if it's his rip than a VBR-0 rip would be in order.

Thanks Soundtracker2010 the third time is certainly the charm with you!

Ok, I got it. I suppose my old ears really can't tell much of a difference nor would I even know how to do it at 320. All I did was drop it in made a file and compressed and uploaded.

You're killing me! How did you do that? I want to add art to my other posts.

I second the request, can someone be kind enough to teach us how to add attachments?, I just keep getting an error message every time that I tried, thank you so much for your replies.

Great share, I think Legrands only entry in the western genre, thank you Sountracker.

Well, it's better than nothing. I would prefer lossless but beggars can't be . . . you know the rest. At least we can hear the whole score and not just samples. It's good way to hear if you want to buy this CD or not.
