A custom job, sinus? "Promo" and OST?That's indeed more or less the case. :) I had two different and not perfect versions of the "promo" at my disposal which I had to combine because of their respective drawbacks. Then there was the official album (again two rips not 100% perfect) from which I took Force Marker (edited for discreteness), Always Forever Now (which differs to the Passengers album's version, therefore exclusive to the OST and my version) and the two album mixes of Goldenthal stuff. The Moby tracks were taken from his album I Like To Score. New Dawn Fades was edited in order to facilitate an instrumental movie-like version (a positive side-effect was getting rid of Moby's awful singing ^^). God Moving Over The Face Of The Waters is the version featured in the film but not on the OST album. Luckily, Moby released it on his 1997 album.
... And then there was the usual audio-repair routine. :)

On the whole, my selection tries to replace the OST (by incorporating all the stuff that was not pre-existent and was quite good imho) and the promo (by expanding this one, too, with Steel Cello Lament and the album mixes).

Took me some time. I hope you all like it! :)

Yes, it is an unreleased cue by Goldenthal; in fact, it can be heard extensively in the "True Crime" featurette on the DVD/Blu-ray.

Impressive orchestral and rock ambiance. First track opens with ambient string quartet and electric guitar on simple melody for 2 minutes 13 seconds which then segues into most aggressive and powerful piece of entire score. Deep bass line permeates sound stage, strange alien voices howl, various electric guitars wail in their lowest pitches, orchestral and rock percussion enters and soon follows Kronos Quartet at 2 minutes 51 seconds; at 3 minutes 32 seconds you have a conglomeration of sounds from all the ensemble leading to massive and noisy crescendo at 4 minutes 15 seconds; At 4 minutes 31 seconds things make a dramatic change with wailing and jolting electric guitars surrounded by waves upon waves of symphonic strings, synthesized effects abound the sound stage, orchestral hits and bashes, the alien voices return once again, the orchestra brass at 4 minutes 49 seconds in produce sounds not to dissimilar from the horns of a cityscape; after moments more of ambient noise of high power the piece culminates into a post-rock style territory with heavy metal percussion, cymbal taps, highly amped guitars, brass appear but are swallowed by the wall of guitars; finally orchestral strings, guitars and brass serve a few more massive wave swells before fading into nothingness.

...And that's simply the first track.

A very high quality album presentation. I've listened to this album twice and watched the film the other night and I have to say this album does much better justice to the score than the official album. Sinus' album is a more enjoyable listening experience, both adding new interesting score material and dropping some of the various songs that made the official album sound convoluted. I'm happy to see 'Armenia' by Einsturzende Neubauten gone as it was intolerable. The sound quality is superior to that of the official album- no longer are peaks crushed, and the difference in loudness between score tracks is more subtle. Watching the film and studying the music- there are some dull score cues here and there, but a recording sessions would still be very nice to have for alternates and such. I doubt there will ever be a recording sessions leaked, but it would be cool cause this score is very unique and interesting enough to hold attention on an album longer than sinus' and most definitely the official album (which stinks).
