This album includes a suite from Robert Farnon's most popular film score, for the Gregory Peck-starrer Captain Horation Hornblower, RN.
The suite was originally recorded (with the lovely Rhapsody for Violin and Orchestra, which is featured here, too) in the late 1950s. Farnon
made this new version for Reference Recordings in 1992.

I also have this CD. I noticed it when I first saw the GREAT movie, and when listening to the music: Notice how the first three notes of the opening horn motif are the same three notes as the STAR TREK fanfare by Courage. No cadging, I'm sure, just somethingthat happened coincidentally (just like the violin melody in "March to the Scaffold" in Berlioz'z Symphonie Fantastique always reminds me of "Over the Rainbow."
