This is the academy promo soundtrack of Mulan, composed by Jerry Goldsmith, shared here in lossless format.
One of my favorite scores by Jerry, hear it is a discovery on how much depth and full dramatic approach that Goldsmith has provided on a score for Disney animation. It's epic, it's highly dramatic and above all else, it's soaringly beautiful. Enjoy :)

I bought a cdr of the academy promo around the time the film came out. It has the best sound by far of all the 'complete' score presentations. The boots are a bit rough. The US album release with Jerry's suites and the Suite (one of Jerry's rare end credits tracks that isn't a horrible post-production cut and paste - sad it was replaced by a caterwauling Aguilera murdering Reflection) has a little more clarity to certain sections and a little less elsewhere. The US OST is also a little bass boosted to my ear, but within sensible limits, and has a bigger dynamic range - clearly Botnik's studio finessing. The real oddities are the UK and all Euro releases - gained into oblivion with very harsh treble - avoid those at all costs!

The only issue here, and it's a strange one, is that the promo has the stereo channels the wrong way round! Easily fixed of course and if you mix these with the songs from the OST (better mixed), Jerry's original version of Mulan's Decision (essential to the development) and the gorgeous Suite you have the best of everything! And what a score it is! I was listening over this just the other day and marvelling at how through composed it is.

Yeah. I pitted it against a lossy version, and the tracks were channel reversed. And then to confirm the proper channel mapping, I also put it against the commercial release that I bought long ago (wherever applicable because the cues are slightly different, and a couple songs are different on both releases).

You can use Audacity, Goldwave, dBpoweramp to reverse the channels. I used dBpoweramp to do it in batch, but had to first convert to WAV (FLAC to FLAC doesn't work, go figure). I'll post to this thread after an upload.

It's not a big problem, really. It's mostly for people who want to reproduce the original recording session as closely as possible.

With the original upload here, you'll hear the orchestra horizontally switched. Left-centric sections will play to the right, and vice versa. But if you're a casual music listener, it might not be a big problem.

This has been posted more than once. The most recent thread was started just 11 days ago, here (Thread 127684). Also, as shown in another thread (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f92/mulan-jerry-goldsmith-1998-limited-edition-score-85754/2.html#post1967750), parts of it appear to be from a lossy source. That's why I prefer the FYC version.
