I started getting into soundtracks at around 2005 and it couldn't have happened at a better time. Some of the first I have ever listened to are, The Last Samurai, Batman Begins, Braveheart, The Count of Monte Cristo, and Gladiator.

I can honestly say these soundtracks have changed my life. At this time I went through every emotion you could think of. My mind was filled with sadness and anger. I would often take a break from life and listen to these soundtracks at a very high volume with my headphones on. Today I look back and wounder who or where I would be now if I had never found these soundtracks

I thought this would make for an interesting discussion. What soundtracks or individual songs have changed your life the most? You don't have to answer why, but I would love to know.

Today my favorite soundtracks to listen to are (including the above)
The Book Of Eli
Castle in the Sky (anime)
The Dark Knight
Defiance
Fable (video game)
The Flowers of War
Game of Thrones
The Lord of the Rings
Memoirs Of A Geisha
Pan's Labyrinth
Princess Mononoke Symphonic Suite (anime)
Samurai X Trust & Betrayal (anime)
Samurai X Reflection (anime)
Tron Legacy
Troy

I have many more but those are my favorites.

Finding Nemo.

Which is the reason for my on-going unhealthy obsession with Thomas Newman's music.

The Lion King struck a chord with me as a child. Then came John Williams' Harry Potter scores and Howard Shore's Lord of the Rings.

And for a year I've been listening to Thomas Newman, on and off...

Ditto. I STILL listen to Rhythm Of The Pridelands all the time. My favorite movie soundtrack ever.

For anime, the Wolf's Rain soundtrack.

For VGM, the Donkey Kong Country trilogy.

For me it's probably the first kingdom hearts soundtrack. Because it's the reason I like video game/movie soundtracks. For the first time, I legitimately try to find the soundtrack. Not just for the main theme song but for all of it. It is the first game that makes me like orchestra (I was a fifth grader back then, most of my friends didn't even listen to the soundtracks)

Most of Joe Hisaishi's works (films + ghibli animations)
And the LOTR soundtrack. I didn't even notice it first but when I started to notice movie soundtrack, I re-watched the trilogy and fell in love with it.

I love most things Clint Mansell, my favorites:
Requiem for a Dream, I listened to that soundtrack for years before I saw the movie.
The Fountain has a beautiful soundtrack, I have yet to see the movie.
Smokin' Aces
Mass Effect 3

Harry Gregson-Williams - Jake Lonergan from Cowboys and Aliens film.

Martin O'Donnell - Halo series

Nobuo Uematsu - Final Fantasy IX especially. I will never forget You're not Alone and the scene it went with.

The very first soundtrack I listened to and tried to pinpoint to scenes in the movie was HOME ALONE. After that came the Disney movies and then TITANIC, which was the first "adult movie" soundtrack I payed attention to.

Some of my all-time favorites include:

-THE VILLAGE
-THE RED VIOLIN
-GLADIATOR
-TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD
-ALIEN

Ennio Morricone's Veruschka. Wouldn't say it's changed my life, but it's an amazing piece of art.

James Horner's "Titanic" soundtrack is what got me into film scores, and classical music as a whole. Since then the soundtracks that have had the most impact on me would be:

Lord of the Rings - Howard Shore
Lady In The Water - James Newton Howard
Transformers - Steve Jablonsky
All the major works by John Williams
