Your'e on a roll with with westerns and I love this one especially, thanks Wildwood. Shenandoah is a traditional American folk song which started out as a sea shanty (not composed by Skinner). I assume this is from an LP and if so the sound is great with no crackling.

Yes Yen, it has only been released as an LP although you would be hard pressed to tell with this recording.

Wow ! Didn't know this had been released even on LP ! Great !

It's funny about this film it was released in 1965 about the same time that thing's in Vietnam were taking off and years later this movie was seen as an anti Vietnam film.

In reality it was just showing the negative aspects of war in general, the film holds up well to this day as far as I'm concerned.

Jimmy Stewart actually lost a son in Vietnam a few years later and in the film half of his family is wiped out by the Civil War.

Great post. Thanks, WIldwood. A great film (though I haven't seen it in quite some time - but listening to the score is prompting me to watch my dvd again). And this post is one of the examples why this forum is so great: not only did I not know that there ever was a score released for the film but also it would have not been easy to get an old LP like this. I'm glad to be able to listen to this really nice score right now (also nice because not that much film music by Frank Skinner has been released). Thanks again.
