Once upon a time i saw some news about Final Fantasy 13, And that it would be released on all platforms for 2005!

The only thing ive actually seen of it was a green logo...

Anyone heard other news on the legendary game?

"Tradition" dictates 3 FF games of the main series for each console... 3 for the NES, 3 for the SNES, 3 for the PSX, 3 for the PS2... So I'm guessing what if there's gonna be a FFXIII, it'll come along when the PS3 / Xbox2 / New Gen Consoles come out.

Either that, or tradition gets blown away, one or the other. :)

If they stick to tradion, FFXII won't be released till 2005/6 since they already have 3 FF's for PS2. Im guessing they will break away from tradion, it will be good. It could have also just been a coincidence that it went 3-3-3. It just depends on when a better system came out.

To bad for PS2 u missed FFX-2. Hence three for the ps2 so it would actually go like this

He missed FF X-2 off for a reason. Its not a *true* FF game in the sense of the series, since its a direct sequel of FFX.

If you want to get technical like that, then you have to include FF1,2,4,5 and 6 for the PSX since they've all been released on it. Same goes for Tactics. Here in Europe we didn't get FFT on the PSX, but elsewhere did before it was made into a GBA title.

Yeah, it's like saying there's an irregularity in the SNES ones because MQ is a FF too. ;D There are tons of spin-offs, X-2 is no exception.

I wasn't thinking about that when i wrote. I was just thinking of the original copies/versions of the ones that bare FF+a number, not subtitles like MQ.

If they release an FF for the X-Box i'd lose all respect for Square -Enix.

As for the discussion of FFXIII, I'd say seeing as XII isn't due until the fall at the earliest, we're gonna be waiting a while before we hear anything concrete about it.

Well, they might release other games that arnt final fantasy, like kingdom hearts (Bad game) and that game they made, (Somthing saga?)

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Remaking the PS FFs for the PS2 will be a bad plan.

I can appreciate releasing FF1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 on the Playstation because not every region in the world received these games first time through, so it gives us a chance to sample them, but to change the graphics and sound of VII - IX and releasing them would be a bad idea. I'd prefer to have the games stay as they are now, and not see them remade.

Plus there's no point me buying a better looking FF7. I already own it.

In an interview in Famitsu Weekly, Square President Yoichi Wada confirmed that Final Fantasy XII would still be released in Japan during 2003, apparently unaffected by the upcoming Final Fantasy X-2.

Additionally, he confirmed that Final Fantasy XIII was in planning stages, though he did not mention to which console it was headed. No further information was divulged on the thirteenth installment of the series.

Finally, Wada mentioned that Square was planning another online RPG, though again, did not go into further detail.

Currently, none of the games have been confirmed for release outside of Japan, though all three of the Final Fantasy titles are expected to make English appearances.

Actually, if you're uncertain... Square Enix registered the doman names ff13.com , ff14.com and ff15.com like, four years ago....

True, but why waste money on them if you're not at least *thinking* about doing so? As a company, it's a silly thing to needlessly expend resources on domain names if you're not planning to use 'em in some way. It stops people from signing them up and selling them to you for an inflated price, so Square have just prepared themselves ready for when they DO release information.

I think FF XIII wont go on ALL consoles now, seen as:

XBOX: wont take it cause they will realise that the profit from the game will mostly go towards PS2, plus they havnt released any FF games before..

Gamecube probably will release it because they already released the (Crappy) FF:CC

Oh, CC is crappy? Perhaps that's because you don't have any friends to play it with.... CC is a good game, even if you have to let Square rape your wallet in order to play it how it's meant to be played. Just beause it doesn't focus on plot like most FFs.... that doesn't make it bad, but different. ;p

Besides... I think the chances of future FF games being released on PC are still low. Squenix hasn't had positive experiences with PC adaptions, but it probably all depends on the circumstances...

I played the demo of FF7 on my old PC once... The graphics looked a lot crisper, but the game lost its "feel." I can't really put it in a different term than that. The graphics were sharper, but the characters seemed to stand apart from the backgrounds.

Of course now, consoles are more like customised PCs with advanced processors, advanced graphics, etc. I'd be curious to hear about people's opinions on the FFXI on PC and on PS2.

Off-topic- there are lots of great games for all three systems. Instead of going off about how the X-Box, and the Gamecube suck, you could actually try playing them. And you know, it may be fun to be an elitist, but I can play any new game that comes out here- I don't have to miss out on anything.

You say that FFXIII could be handled by a PS2...? How do you know? No-one knows yet, who knows when the game will be released and what will be technical standard at that time? Speculating is a fun thing, but here it ceases to make sense, because we simply have to assume too much, there are no facts and no information... Just wait and see.
I know fans are always angry when a game they want to play gets released for a console they don't own. And when it's a new console they deny that its existence is justified, and complain that the company doesn't stick to the old console, or something?

On topic: I wonder how much effort it truly takes to convert the game from one format to another? I mean, you get FIFA on all formats, etc... So why not FF? Or have Square signed a sort of exclusive deal with Sony or what?

earlier, alpott, you quoted that the director of square said that, but the director's name isn't what you quoted, his name is hironobu sackaguchi, plus i'm not sure GC is crap, i'd still like to get one (if i had the money), just to play games like FF:CC even if you consider it crap, i'm not too sure about the X-box, it's just a PC, someone i know namaged to install windows on it, but there some games i wouldn't mind trying on that one either, as for ffXIII i couldn't care less what console it came out on, 'twould be nice if it did come out on PS2 then i wouldn't have to expend masses of money on a PS3 or X-box 2 or whatever, but i would still get one just to play it...

I heard a rumor that the characters on FFXIII will be Reyu, Biggs, Wedge, Schrive, Viala & Ward and the story begins in an Train (just like FF7) but im not sure about it though.....:(
