Bear in mind that Zidane was originally a thief. If you want information about the whereabouts of rich people's homes and where their goods are stashed, security arrangements, etc, you find some local, feed them with booze until they can barely stand, then ask them questions. Said local can't walk / remember a thing afterwards and you can run away with the loot. ^^

Failing that, of course, he probably did it to chat up all the ladies.

hmmm... very good point, but still, you have to admit, it still seems like he might have been a drunk in the japenese version, right?

Having not played the Japanese version, I can't tell you for sure.

But when you first enter Lindblum and meet Freya, he starts drinking so you could view him as being a drunkard there. Plus, when he and Vivi have their, uh, bonding moment in the second disk, it's altogether possible that he may have been drunk then as well.

I dont think he was a drunk, i mean, look at his history in brief:

Created by Garland to weaken the summoners of Gaia so they could destroy the planet, but decided to live a normal life, kuja was the person who did what he was supposed to do, and then zidane was fostered by the tantalus leader...

No drunk..

Whats wrong with him being a drunk anyway, theres nothing wrong with drunks, im 16 and apparently im a drunk (thats wat my parents tell me anyway)..........theres nothing wrong with being one.

To the person that said theres nothing wrong with drunks..

Alcholoics destroy families, They beat there children when they didnt "have too much too drink"

They ruin lives when they say there going to stop drinking and get help, but instead you catch them lying on the sofa with yesterdays barf, and a bottle of brandy by there side.

So yes, There is something bad about drunks..

Now my point is clear go back to your talk about zidane.

Whoa whoa, that isn't true of ALL alcoholics. A bit of an over generalization. And my dad was an alcoholic, so I know.

Anyways....

There really is no good evidence that Zidane is an alcoholic, just enough to ponder the idea if he is a social drinker at best.

i dont have a problem with alchohalics, my friends dad is an alchohalic and he's one of the nicest guys i know so i dont have a problem with drunks, its drunk drivers i dont like. anyways, we're makin too big of a deal out of this, but i think zidane probably had his share of drinkin days, i think hes definately a drunk, when i say that i mean it in a good way :)

Gosh, some people have a bit too much of an imagination... An alcoholic, Zidane? Why that, for heaven's sake? Yes, there is one, I repeat one scene when he's in a bar. Like Adam said, where do you think does he get his information from? Where are people? In bars. Zidane had never been drunk in the game.

Misao, I find myself loving your posts more and more lately.

Yeah, he was "drunk" all right - on the soup from the Lindblum cafe!

Zidane is only 16, i dont think square soft would make a 16 yr old a drunk......................Would they??

Bahamut ZERO

It's legal in some countries to drink at age 16, so it could be possible.

Although, to be honest, I'll doubt if Square went out of their way to do so.

(Edit: Making this make sense.)

I hear in Russia it is legal to walk into a bar and order an alcoholic drink at the age of 5.

But to be honest, I can't see how you thought about how Zidane is a drunk, just because he walked into a pub. If people thought I was a drunk, everytime I walked into a pub, I'd be classified as an alcoholic.

I'm with Adam. Zidane just liked the bars because it helped him pick up the ladies.

There are a lot of countries where the legal drinking age is basically being able to see over the bar.

well actually, Zidane just hit up a local Boston party with me, and the kid did three kegstands in record time.

later on he double fisted some colt 45's

and almost chocked a bitch like Wayne Brady

yea, us Boston'ers get kinda silly sometimes.

but for the record, Zidane isn't a drunk, he IS drunk ;D

That's not going into depth, that's being silly.
And there's no need to revive this thread - I know it hadn't been gone for long, but I sincerely hoped I'd never have to see it again.
Especially if you have nothing to contribute except for chatting...

I don't like your avatar, that's all. And if I disagree with your opinion and/or voice my opinion on the relevance of this topic... that doesn't mean I don't like you. I'm currently too busy to get to know you enough to build an opinion on you anyway.

In the time of the game Zidane is away from drink for long periods of time and he doesn't have any withdrawl symptoms that I've noticed. So if he's a drunk at the time (and it's a good point that you only see him in a bar twice, once in Lindblum (first disc) and once in Alexandria (after the Iifa tree incident)) he's taking the cold chicken rather well.

Now if he WAS a drunk before he's 16 ffs so a 16 year old has not only become a drunk but has come off the drink. Also a drunk can't start drinking again EVER because they will almost immidiatly become a drunk again so being in a bar really doesn't help.

I never thought that he was a drunk. And that scene in Madain Sari? I'm not a guy but even I could tell that that was male bonding time. Come on! If girls are allowed to have bonding time why can't guys? I know (cuz i have an older brother) that guys do do things similar to that.
