This is a great score. James Newton Howard SOMEHOW was able to make music that SOUNDS like mountains! My only regret on this release was the lack of end titles which included male chorus.... I augmented my disc by adding the credits from the DVD. This was also bludgeoned by the critics... and I am one tough audience... but I enjoyed it very much.

It's my favorite JNH score. One of the first films where I started to notice the score. I hope the complete score gets leaked, on the sheets there's lots of choir that, unfortunely it's a regular habit on JNH scores, it's buried under the orchestra.

His work for ALIVE is a precursor to this score.

The track ALBERTO is a brief concerto for orchestra. With the strings in the background, first the solo harp is introduced, the guitar, clarinet, flutes, a sequence for strings topped by harp & flutes, woodwinds, and finally/conclusively a French horn as it fades out. Just lovely.

Love his score for Alive, as well.
