I haven't seen this here so I thought I'd share - it's an Amazon Download so whatever that usually translates to quality wise. Quite a nice John Scott soundtrack for an appalling film.

Thanks for the artwork - it is on the whole a very enjoyable experience - the music was probably the only aspect of the movie I enjoyed and it's great to hear music by John Scott for a narrative rather than a documentary again.

John Scott never ceases to amaze... I am literally speechless listening to this. The man is 82 years old. He hasn't been flavour of the month for thirty years. And here he comes, back again, with an instant classic. Minerva of the River - particularly the final minute - written in the twenty first century for a 2010 movie... does not compute... Scott stubbornly refuses to acknowledge the film music rot of recent decades and scores this picture like it's the 1950s all over again. Bonnie Scotland... Scott has lost nothing - a glorious melody. Drive To The Inn, pure Golden Age suspense. And the action cues... suspenseful, lyrical, hard hitting, all at once.

Just wonderful. Welcome back, Scott. The world of Western film music needed this score. My hopes that mainstream cinema will eventually rediscover this sort of music - and that when they do, there will still be gentlemen around like John Scott to write them - remain strong.

The original Wicker Man has such a distinctive soundtrack (I'm not purposely writing score, because they were rather songs), that I'm quite curious how Scott handle this (sort of) sequel orchestrally. Thanks for the share!

After listening more, oh God, what a magnificent piece of work this really is...! It's music. Hearing this score, and not having to make excuses for it -("Oh, you can't expect the composer to match his best work from the past / Well, it's better than most modern scores / He's made concessions to the modern scoring sound but there are still hints of genius buried under the electronica")... None of that. Just pure awe. In all seriousness, some of Scott's very best work - and yes, we're talking about a man who has been in the business for over fifty years - is in this score.

There is nothing sadder than a witnessing a great artist attempting a triumphant return to his artform after years of obscurity, and realising that he really is past it, or he's too old, or he's not trying any more, or he's trying to revisit an old technique that just isn't working now.

There is nothing more wonderful than when they absolutely succeed and come up with something every bit as good as their past glories.

HOW I HAVE MISSED THIS KIND OF MUSIC.

John Scott; a genius. A man with a heart made of passion, melody, music, and life.

I see Robin Hardy (83 years old himself) already has another film listed under his Directorship. I wonder if it's too much to hope that he will again hire John Scott...?
