This is a decent sampler but I am gonna go on the record and say I ABSOLUTELY hate the presentation with the tracks blending into each other plus the terrible overmixing of all the dynamic instruments. Also there wasn't enough decent action material to satisfy me so I can't wait for the eventual leak of the recording sessions. James Newton Howard's contributions are most definitely missed from this effort and on album, it comes nowhere close to the power of The Dark Knight. Also, either I wasn't paying enough attention and missed it or my ears are sharp but I had a difficult time finding Bane's chant in this score. I heard it faintly in the track Imagine the Fire but it seems to have been lost amongst the noise. The Bane chant was the whole reason I decided to give this album a chance and I came away extremely disappointed. Let's just hope the score inside the film is much more interesting (for lack of a better word) than what we have here. RCP fans will no doubt eat this album up on the other hand.

This relic of the 90s electronic music will probably represent something of a Catwoman "theme".
Pseudo-two tone "batman" motif, the constant repetition, the lack of variation.
Continuous approach to Steve Jablonsky "Transformers" style. For example "Imagine the Fire" aka "Skorponok".
Sorry, this is all too simplistic, too repetitive. Oh man, I miss James Newton Howard.

By the way. The score to "Arkham City" is much better, although Nick Arundel Fish and Ron had far fewer resources available.

The remix on "A Game of Shadows" was actually pretty good and didn't stick out like a sore thumb from the rest of the album. The remix included on the "Simpsons Movie" score was also very fun. The other ones, though? Well, club/dance music simply isn't my thing.

I like the score. However, I'm still disappointed that there isn't a true Batman theme, but I really do love that re-arrangement of the Training cue from Batman Begins. The one that used several times in The Dark Knight; when Lucius arrives in Hong Kong, for example. I do like Imagine the Fire, but I have to ask. What is up with these bonus tracks? Many of them sound like they are channelling Daft Punk's score to Tron Legacy..and I'm not just talking about that techno remix that was included. Are they remixes or are they in the film?

I think this score suffers as many modern scores suffer; from a case of being atonal, and meant more to fit the sound design than become the heart and soul of the film, which many filmmakers seem to hate, to my annoyance. The music for this series has been good, but I rarely find that it ever comes full circle.

Well, in the piece A Dark Knight you heard Zimmer use a retro synthy vibe towards the end, as the tempo...My guess is he's ramped that up tremendously for this score so now it sounds totally retro.

And biggest let down for me is the fact that music from the trailers is not included.. MTV Trailer, Trailer 3, Trailer 5(Journey) they all have excellent music attached to them.. and I would rather have them on the CD than some remix or recycled music from previous Batman flicks.

I don't think the ost is in listening order at all, the track that should be right after the credits from what I remember is 'Gotham's Reckoning'

I have to agree with this , I miss JNH on this , some cues sound scrappy and the bane motif seems only to fill some blank in which Zimmer did not have inspiration . I will see if Id love this one better after seeing the movie, but I guess ill have to wait for a complete score to make my mind on this.

with all due respect the prologue can be changed from production. not unusual at all, especially being the final batman film of the series and all, want to make it 'perfect' for us. I do question this judgement, though. have you seen the film already, daminer?

IMO it just doesn't fit with any of the previous scores.

The end sounds like an cue that hans zimmer made between 6pm and 7pm a sunday afternoon before dinner.

The End is actually Rise with a beat...I dont really see the big deal here.

The only reason I would say some of those special tracks arent good is because they are not mastered. Much like with the Pirates 5 tracks last year that came out - they were just unfinished and didn't sound right. But I don't give a crap I like them anyway. I put The End right after Rise.
