Ok. An unpopular question perhaps. But, as a group, what actual listening pleasure comes from an album over half of which is composed of 14 or 18 second tracks? (exaggerated, I know) This is where I would rather have the suites of on official album as opposed to the sessions....

Well, you can unite some of this cues into suites with any kind of program.

But, I mean more as a discussion in general, and not a complaint of the share. I am simply asking the group, do you like these fragments (even though that is film edit) or longer suites?

Format is irrelevant. The final result is what matters. Return of the Jedi cues are better than the album. The Lord of the Rings albums are better than the recording sessions. (Your choices may differ.) I have tons of really short cues (under 30 seconds) I like. I also have some really long ones. It's not about the form, or about the length, it's only about the music.

I prefer fragments. i may not like how others do their suites. some tend to focus too much on the artsy lovey stuff that's sooooooooooo beauutiful :rolleyes:

Why not? What's the harm in making covers? I got my custom covers guy making me one for RoTF that's never been used before, and I'm gonna try and find some unused art from DotM for him to use

Absolutely, 100% yes, I like the film edit fragments. I could be in the minority, but I like to listen to what's heard in the film that I've watched. Most definitely longer suites.

agreed. minority? not sure though if that's really the case. i mean who wouldn't be happy collecting all their favorite films scores (at least the ones that matter to them most) in their possession and have the pleasure of hearing them in the comfort of their own place (wherever that is). besides,in my case as i have previously mentioned too much of one particular cues/tracks in one sitting bores me. more so if it has those simply wondering offtunes that only functions to lengthen the cue to match the film. but in cases of watching a live score concert definitely a lengthy suite from the likes JW, Silvestri, Horner, to name a few is a must. i always find myself looking for a stood out cue that is either melodic, boombastic, marches and simply addicting to add to my playlist and having film score versions offers more of that chance.

Film version of "Optimus" from the Transformers score lol. Been after it for years, and I think it's what all you regulars around here know me for haha. I even get people PMing me now and then asking me if I've found it

I do not think you will ever find it. It won't be on this kind of set. Judging by the time you are having, and it's abscence here, I am pretty sure it was a thing done in editing, aftr the scoring session. Not to be found on sessions, and not on the OST, so the only hope of a clean source would possibly be an isolated score (hwahahha..). At least that's how it looks to me right now.

For the tracks that have no other version than an alternate, does that mean that the alternate is the film version, or that it wasn't used at all? Because I know that "Triumphant Return" is in the film, but it's listed as an alternate here (also, shouldn't it come after "Schmidt's CCTV", instead of before "Parachute"?).

And would "Star Spangled Man" (from the commercial album) come after "General Brandt's Pep Talk"?

The same question I posted about the Thor Complete Score applies here, which is essentially, is this somehow a companion to the almost 60 - track expanded version I just got a few days ago, or it meant as a replacement for that version?

that's nice, thanks for finding the film order of the score...i would be able to arrange mine as how it should be based on the sequences from the film.

Im not sure if this is 100% correct, i just ordered them from memory but i think it seems right, correct me if im wrong.
