The NINTENDO FLACapalooza
Various rips of my Nintendo albums
Containing various rare + more common albums from:
The Mario series, Zelda, Starfox, Metroid and other Nintendo franchises

in FLAC (+Log & Cue) & MP3 320kbps

From now on I'm using a password for the RAR files, which is: flacelicious
Not all RAR files are password protected yet, I can't remember which were and which weren't :p
But I'm using this password for all my shared files!

I'll be adding more soundtracks over time, this is just a start ;)

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
Probably the best gamerip of Paper Mario 2 out there. Since most of the rips out there had a problem with the stereo balance (most of the sounds are heard in the left or right speaker). This one doesn't have this problem, plus it's fully edited, in the correct order, tagged and includes a few SFX bonuses. One of my favorite game soundtracks of all-time!!!

You shouldn't be using a premium account to upload rar archives that aren't pass-worded. If Mediafire is forced to remove your files, then you also jeopardize your paid account. Do yourself a favor and password-protect your rar files. And personally, I'd rename the files to less obvious identification. Like PCCG00421 instead of StrFx64. I'm sure MediaFire admins as well as people who report copyrights have played a bit of Starfox 64 in their days to make connections like that.

Anyways I thank thee for Yoshi Story. Hard to imagine its been 15 years.

I think only files with very large amounts of downloads will get checked.

Plenty of non-popular files get deleted from time to time. I'm just saying not to take unnecessary risks with a paid account, and to avoid future dead links. The risk of being banned is slim on Mediafire, but they don't refund banned accounts.

I'm going to assume you were replying to me. Anyway, how set on FLAC are you? I would be able to upload a 320 VBR MP3 rip of the soundtrack but not FLAC. I'll upload the MP3 anyway for those who want it but if you were set on FLAC, I'm sorry I won't be able to provide. I do have the physical CD but I'm living about 2 hours from home this summer and I'm not going to drive there just to rip it. Additionally, I don't use Windows and I've never ripped anything into FLAC before so I probably couldn't follow the nice walk through that Vegeta? has created in other threads.

Like I said, I'll upload the MP3 album I have and as long as it's OK with McGlynn, I'll just post the link in this thread.

320 is fine. I'm not picky about FLAC.

Not necessarily, although it may be advertised this way. I already added one gamerip (Link's Awakening) and as long as it's "album quality" I'll be posting it here (with album quality I mean: very good sound quality, plus correct tagging) in FLAC or 320 kbps.

I still wonder, who originally made up the names like Dragon Slaying Battle?

Why most? Why not all :P?

Also, there's a complete SFX-less rip (not including cutscenes) of Super Mario Sunshine.

Make sure you get the one by 'furry bob' and NOT the one by 'slippyToad', since furry bob's rip has every track, and every variation, without any SFX whatsoever, however in slippyToad's rip, there were some that he wasn't able to mute.

There's already a topic for it somewhere here, but here are the links (hopefully they work, if not I'll re-upload them):

They are ZIP files, not RAR files, and are not "split", but 4 separate files. Therefore, you don't have to download them all before extracting.

What someone should do, is arrange them as if they were on a CD set. The current FLACs include a normal version of each area, a normal version with Yoshi drums, and then a medley (as they are on the Club Nintendo CDs from years ago, i.e. Nintendo Sound Selection and Happy! Mario 20th).

Therefore, if one was to actually arrange them into hypothetical (is that the right word?) CDs, to avoid unnecessary space-wasting, the best ones would be the medleys, since you get both versions in one track, and most OSTs with a song that has more than one variation within the same area, have a medley, AFAIK.

If you only count "Medleys", and also only count the "Title Screen" with Mario's voice (As there's a version without), the total time of the soundtrack would be 1:33:47

Now, VS. Boss, Vs. Wiggler, and VS. Wiggler - Fast are pretty much the same tune, but Vs. Wiggler has an intro that starts slow and speeds up, and the fast version is just a faster version of that. Whether you'd use all of those would be up to you, but as a suggestion, rather than filling up an entire disc, and then just having like 3 tracks on a 2nd disc, you could balance it out.... e.g.

Disc 1 could have 27 tracks totalling 43:47 in length
Disc 2 could have 22 tracks totalling 50:10 in length

Or simply reduce some of them by making them fade out earlier, and make all 49 tracks fit on one CD. There are about 76 tracks if you include multiple variations, but 49 if you only include the medleys, and one of the Title Screens.

Given your familiarity with the soundtrack/rip and idea of how the rip should be arranged (hypothetically), perhaps you ought to take on the duty.

It might be (referring to the Club Nintendo CDs, not Super Mario Sunshine just to clear up any confusion)

As for TheGazelMinistry, I suppose I could. But, since I'm honestly rubbish at it, if necessary, anyone up for making a nice "cover art" for it?

I do have that 76-track SFX-less gamerip.....it's by far the very best Mario Sunshine rip out there. I don't think I'll be editing it anytime soon though. I think it's fine as it is ;)

Title Screen (0:11)
Opening Demo (0:44)
File Select (0:51)
Delfino Airstrip (2:18)
Vs. Polluted Piranha Plant (2:01)
Shine Sprite Appears (0:04)
Get Shine Sprite (0:05)
Stage Intro (0:07)
Delfino Plaza (2:54)
Underground (0:38)
Too Bad! (0:04)
Game Over (0:08)
Episode Select (0:03)
Bianco Hills (2:42)
Vs. Boss (1:50)
Secret Course (3:00)
Timed Event (1:48)
Shadow Mario Intro (0:06)
Shadow Mario (1:42)
Ricco Harbor (4:07)
Event (2:06)
Race Fanfare (0:03)
Gelato Beach (3:07)
Sky & Sea (1:54)
Il Piantissimo (1:35)
Pinna Park Beach (3:01)
Pinna Park (3:21)
Vs. Mecha Bowser (2:33)
Yoshi-Go-Round (1:45)
Sirena Beach (2:24)
Vs. Phantamanta (2:12)
Hotel Delfino (2:45)
Casino Delfino (2:06)
Casino Delfino Fanfare (0:04)
Noki Bay (3:25)
Deep Sea of Noki (2:07)
Pianta Village (2:57)
Pianta Village (Nighttime) (3:00)
Pianta Village Band (Hot Spring) (2:16)
Piantas in Need (1:45)
Pianta Village Band (2:17)
Corona Mountain (2:08)
Vs. Bowser (3:01)
Staff Credits (1:39)
Ending (0:09)

Noki Bay is Mare Bay in the Japanese version hence why I put "Deep Sea of Noki" instead of "Deep Sea of Mare", as it makes more sense, IMO.

Is there anything wrong with that tracklist, given whats there, and the lengths?

The total track time is 1:19:03, which means it can just fit on a CD with merely 54 seconds left.
Now, if we were able to get the cutscene music, we could probably make a 2-CD soundtrack.

Well I suppose, this picture could be the basic background for a CD cover:

The question is, who's good at adding "Original Soundtrack", or something like that, and make it look professional?

Of course you'd have to crop off the left side, to get rid of the small Super Mario Sunshine logo, the GameCube logo and that watermark of some site, and then you could add a larger logo, in a more traditional location like in the center, at the top or something.

Would anyone being interested in a Donkey Kong Land 2 soundtrack? So there's a few going around, but not many of them have the Ending themes (both the Character and Staff Credits), OR the Bonus music. And they certainly don't have the recently discovered Boss Bossanova which is not used in the game.

(The hex value for Boss Bossanova is 19, and only plays in Boss stages, so hex editing the music value for a non Boss stage to 19 will produce silence.... speaking of which, there are a few values which seem to have silence, and may also only work in certain areas, therefore, there could potentially be quite a few unused themes, like Jib Jig, or Forest Interlude for example).

Should I upload it now, or hex edit every song in every stage, to see if there are any more 'unused' music?

So far, there are 4 unused tracks in the DKL series.

Donkey Kong Land has an original "Skyscraper (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X41r_btRAhw)", and "K. Rool/Last Boss (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCBguPUTMhI)" theme
Donkey Kong Land 2 has "Boss Bossanova (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvV9VDFphnk)"
Donkey Kong Land 3 has "Rocket Run (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfhiuWIIboU)"

There also appears to be an unused track in the GBC version of Donkey Kong Country, that's an 8-bit rendition of when you lose in Swanky's Showdown from DKC3, however it's not in either DKL3 or this game (DKC GBC).

Hmm. I have some questions about the Mario & Luigi Sounds Collection flac download. Why is it that several of the GBA tracks have waaaay too much bass and that you can hear a very noticable hissing noise in the background of some of the songs from the DS game? Possible some of the GBA ones aswell.

The Ultimate Koopa
08-06-2012, 09:43 PM
Because... you're Toad!

Actually it's probably because the GBA sucks sound quality. Having said that.... Koopa Castle from Mario Kart: Super Circuit from the Nintendo Sound Select series.... if they did the Superstar Saga ones like that, which I think is the "original version before they had to "ruin" it to be able to... be handled by the GBA's "really powerful sound system" <__<"
