Out of curiosity: How many guys on here plan on seeing this film? I won't, but the idea of them using popular rock songs geared towards men is interesting, especially seeing as musicals don't have a high audience demographic of men. I don't think I made much sense lol.

I will not be seeing this. There are only 2 musicals I like:

Across The Universe (because I love The Beatles and how a good chunk of their catalog was turned into a movie and given a storyline, AND I love the music of that time period

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (because I love Tim Burton's movies, and this one was very interesting)

But still, I will not see this movie. The music does intrigue me though, these are some of the best classic rock songs IMHO. Journey is my favorite band (tied with Pink Floyd) and I see them every summer, so that kinda sucks me in. And I can't resist Twisted Sister, REO Speedwagon, Scorpions, Def Leppard, Foreigner, Poison and Whitesnake. But I still won't go see this. If anything, I'll rent it when it comes out. If.

Yeah. The only musicals I like are Mamma Mia (because I love Meryl Streep and ABBA, but I don't think it was a good film), and Moulin Rouge. For this one, it's only because it's the first "Rock of Ages", using music from other artists and incorporating it into the storyline. Plus, Luhrmann is crazy. His take on The Great Gatsby looks amazing. Sweeney Todd was great too. I would say it's my favorite of the three (I too love Burton films, and Johnny Depp is my favourite male actor, right above Ryan Gosling).

Chicago was ok, but I didn't really like it. In all, musicals annoy me.

I don't know if you guys can get my whole "it was good/great, but I didn't like it" attitude towards films lol. Some of you may understand.

I kinda feel bad for "Rock of Ages", it's trying too hard to get to the men. I wonder how it will turn out at the box office.
