i found boss battles pretty in easy in FFX until i got to the third battle with seymour guado (the battle at the top of Mt. Gagazet). i tried like 10 times to beat him but i lost. i looked at the walk through at this site and its tips..but that didn't help me enough to beat him...the trick is to get not only all the members of your party to overdrive mode before you take seymour on..but the aeons..it really helps when all your characters are on overdrive mode..but the aeons are capable of easily doing the job..all you simply have to do is get them to overdrive mode. i casted irift and his overdrive mode..it caused over 23,000HP damage to seymour. i didnt even use all the aeons, and i still easily beat him..that is just a tip for anyone who is having trouble with a boss battle in FFX.

Yeah, that alone is one reason why FFX is too easy. You can basically beat any boss by using your aeon's ODs. Personally, though, I try to restrain myself from using them during bosses to see how well I can do. I think I can beat every boss in the game w/o the use of an aeon. Only Nemesis requires me to use aeons, but that's only to take Nemesis's hits, not for using ODs.

Bah, I'm stuck on that 3rd boss right now. First time playing through FFX and have gotten bored cause Semour keeps beating me there...the game is too easy once you've finished it a few times, never on the first time, remember that. My Aeons' Overdrives only do around 8000 so even with all the overdrives on, it's always a pitiful attempt. Any better advice for beating the guy?

Want a cheat-cheat method? Head back to the Calm Lands and get yourself hooked up with a chocobo. Take it to Requiem Temple using the chocobo feather at the edge of the Calm Lands and participate in the chocobo race, grabbed at least three chests and making it to the end without hitting any poles. You'll get items that Rikku can mix that will cause all of your party members to hit for 9999 damage every turn.

Other ideas? Before the battle, charge up not only all of your Aeons' overdrives, but your characters' as well. Seymour likes to zombify characters and then use Full-Life on them to kill them. Use an accessory that protects against Zombie if you have it. Put the party in haste if at all possible.

I could never beat him cause of his big attack, but then i found an HP sphere in my inventory and that gave Auron enough life to survive it. Anyways, the way i beat him, and this is how i did it pretty closely, not all of this has to be done for my strat to work, Rikku mixed a cluster bomb wich did 5000 to him, plus 4000 because it destoryed his weaker half. Then i had Tidus use haste and there after attack the main body, while Auron attacked the weaker one, or that may have been reversed but anyways. When he zombies u can just use holy water and he'll still use full life, which will fully heal your character. During the final attack i ended up having to use Mega Pheniox two or so times but it was pretty easy. Mostly i used Auron, Tidus, and Rikku. I don't think i used an aeon against him but i may have.

I suppose the time it takes to go back to the Calm Lands will be worth it. 9999 each turn sounds interesting...if they can live long enough. Does the 9999 thing work with Overdrives too? Cause that'd be useful.

I'm not sure if it carries over to your Aeons, but it does work for Overdrives yes. It's a key component in winning if you're playing the No Sphere Grid / No Aeon / No Customization challenge. BTW, if I remember correctly, I think the item you get is called Key to Success.

Ah, FINALLY beat him. I experimented with my own ways cause I didn't wanna go all the way back to the calm lands. So I mixed a Frag Grenade with a Lvl4 key sphere and it silenced the guy and did 9999, then I just used Auron's overdrive and then all my GF's overdrives. Game set and match.

You have the International version? I envy you.

I don't have any strategies because I only have the U.S. version, but I will say that it's probably better to start a new thread if you want to discuss strategies for a different boss.

<font color=red face="comic sans ms">I think I somehow already had Break HP Limit for one character before taking on Dark Valefor, which made the battle much more bearable for me. You might want to go to the Omega Ruins and beat Omega Weapon first, then you can get a Break HP Limit armour for someone.

Then still my main strategy was to keep everyone with Auto-Life for as long as possible (keep adding it back every time someone is KO'd), and get Kimahri to use Mighty Guard (this probably won't have any noticable effect if your defence stat is still too low though). I got lucky in that my Break HP Limit armour was for Wakka, as your main method of attack in this battle should be Attack Reels (it's about the only consistent attack you can use that causes significant damage). Obviously it helps to have his celestial weapon fully customised beforehand as then he will have Break Damage Limit on his weapon. Some peopel say that you should work on maxing your stats before taking on any Dark Aeons, but my highest stat was strength at about 140, and some others were still below 100.

And if you're still having problems, simply get your stats up further. If you're intending to take on the later Dark Aeons though you should sersiouly consider maxing out your stats completely (or near enough anyway, you can get away with not quite maxing Luck, although you should still work on it to an extent).
